Do you think that wearing black clothing is an easy option. Do you think we wear it too much?

I agree that black is a great go to color when you arent sure what to wear, or you hate all that you have tried on. When in doubt play it safe and wear black. Why not!! [mybrownhair2008]
I suppose. I guess it is just to easy to wear but then again it is one colour that seems to suit every complexion. [UK_Shree]
When I was younger I often used to wear a black dress for special evenings. You can certainly jazz a simple black dress up with jewellery or scarves. These days I avoid black and anything really dark for the simple reason it would show every dog hair, and dark clothes seem to gather every bit of lint from the washing machine. Mind you those special black dresses used to be taken to the dry cleaners. From what I have observed people are less fond of black now. It used to be a question of 'that little black dress can go anywhere'. Not so much these days. [Flysse]
Yes I do think black is less fashionable than it used to be. Still think its an easy way out though. Most women tend to own dozens of black clothing items. [UK_Shree]
I love black clothes as I think they are simple and easier to look after. Most of my clothes are black or dark in colour.. I think black is neutral colour really.. you can basically wear black anytime of the day month or year.. unlike white clothes or lighter clour clothes only look good in summer time.. so thumbs up for black clothes from my side... [jellymonty]
I do agree that black clothing can be easily matched up nearly any time of the year with something a little more colourful. [UK_Shree]
I'm thinking about my wardrobe, and I don't think black is the predominant color in my closet. However, black goes with everything, so it is tempting to have a lot of black items just to be sure we always have clothes that match. In the summer I try not to wear black a lot, simply because it absorbs the heat of the sun so much worse than other colors on clothing. [AmbiePam]
I love wearing lighter colours in the summer and ones that are made from breathable fabrics such as cotton. [UK_Shree]
I agree that black is easy to match with any color and style. In my case, yes I have a lot of black and brown colored clothes in my closet. It's very easy to mix and match them with other colors :) [mviray]
Yes black and other dark colurs do seem to be much easier to match with other items of clothing. [UK_Shree]
I know that it is supposed to look slimming. It also goes with everything. Some jobs prefer to wear it because it does not show dirt. I think it looks fantastic when accessorized, so it just depends on why someone is wearing it, as to whether or not it is too much. [GardenGerty]
Yes as long as black is not worn at every single outing as some sort of cop-out. Agree that black can look glam with the correct accessories! [UK_Shree]
I love black! I just sort of go toward the black slacks and black skirts before I chose other colors. It's a neutral color, one that looks good with most other things and looks good on most people. I don't know if we wear it too much or not. But that won't make me quit wearing it. I have more black slacks in my closet than you could count! [Barb42]
Lol, thanks for sharing! [UK_Shree]
i think black is very dressy looking . u can do so much w/it. i think anytime u are not sure what to wear somewhere u are safe w/black. i don't wear it too much because i very seldom ever dress up or go anywhere that i need to. [ANTIQUELADY]
i think so to. [ANTIQUELADY]
Yes, black is easy to wear and just shows Goth mentality and laziness as far as I can see. So many options. We do wear it too much! I think it is ugly and boring. I like grey better or charcoal. I think these two options show alot of class and taste. Black is so common and not even necessarily that complementary. Black and white both are just not that appealing to me. [celticeagle]
Yes, you are right. In looking I find I have afew black essentials as well. [celticeagle]
Now that I've thought about it, I realized most of my shirts are black...never really occured to me before! When I'm shopping I don't purposely look for black clothes though. In fact, I usually search out blue clothes since thats my favorite color and I've been told looks good on me. I guess it is because black is more convenient as it goes with pretty much anything. [Soteira]
That's exactly what black is - convenient! Don't worry, I think most of us tend to do the same thing as you. [UK_Shree]
Yes it is an easy option, it goes with anything and everything, and yes we wear way to much. [Ozarkgirl]
I guess we wear it too much for just those reasons! Thanks for responding. [UK_Shree]
Yeah it is. You can match black to whatever accessories, shoes and bags. Its also a safe color to wear on most occassions. I find the black clothing very classic and sophisticated to wear on. I dont think we are wearing it too much. Its just that a big percentage of people like to wear it for so many reasons. Happy mylotting! [jhoannejoj]
You are true in what you say - I also think we wear black alot for more than just one reason. Some of those reasons include the fact that it does match with most other colours, it is not a crude colour to wear, can look sexy etc etc... [UK_Shree]
Yup, black is the easiest color to match. Moreover, it is also a great color for evening wear, hides a lot of unsightly bulges or stains!lol [lazeebee]
Black does seem to have a miracle slimming effect! Thanks for the response [UK_Shree]
In my younger days when I worked at an answering service (which aren't around much anymore with the coming of cell phones), I worked 3rd shift and wore black exclusively. I just picked out a tshirt and pants and off I went. Black is so convenient, no fuss, and easy to maintain. I really like black, it goes with everything! [dragon54u]
Yes black does match with almost every other colour out there. [UK_Shree]
If you wear it every day year after year it can be a lil bit of a drag to limit yourself. But it goes well with everything, usually doesn't show any sort of stains, and even better good when AF is expected or happening. [3SnuggleBunnies]
True. Nice to keep it varied. But it is always so tempting to pick black in the shops if they are offering a number of different clolurs for a particular item of clothing! [UK_Shree]
I find this being worn most easily by a few. In fact i have a friend who is dressed in black everry day of the week. His entire wardrobe has more or less similar typ of shirts and trousers and all in black. He is very superstitious about the choice of color. [alokn99]
Thats interesting. I would have thought that anyone who is superstitious would be less inclined to wear black? Thanks for responding. [UK_Shree]
Okey, let me share my opinion as a fashion designer/stylist with you. Black is no doubt a basic as well as the most popular colour in fashion and I can say that it almost never went out of fashion. Another two popular colours will be white and red and both match very well with black to make the 3 most popular colours in fashion. By just looking at the colour trends of every season, you'll realize that black and white will always be in the trend and red also appears almost every season. Yes, black is the easiest colour of all to match well with every colours, but if you wear it too often, you'll soon get tired of it. [dknkyle]
Hi there dknkyle! Thanks a lot for the response. It is great to have a professional opinion on this matter. You are so right - black white and red do seem to be great 'staple' colours for clothes! [UK_Shree]
I like black on other people but I rarely wear black. It attracts fuzz lint cat/dog hair dandruff dust... I don't need that kind of trouble. At the office the other day 5 people were standing around, all wearing black. It looked like a funeral. So yeah, we wera it too much. I like it when people look like they put some thought into their wardrobe. I work in IT and the IT 'dress code' is Polo shirts and khakis. I can't stand that. I prefer that jeans/untucked shirt look. After hours club kind of look. [sawatzky]
Lol, funny comment about you guys looking like you were attending a funeral! I think black is very often worn out of convenience. [UK_Shree]
Yes I do think that it is worn to much, but let's face it, it hides stains easier and makes most of us look smaller. It goes well with everything else we wear. Most everyone looks good in it. [tjburcham]
Yes definitely is a colour which suits nearly every skin complexion. Thanks for responding. [UK_Shree]
I used to but now pink, green, bright colours are my favourite, depends on where you are going, plenty of toning colours help you feel happier.xx [suzzy3]
I agree with you that brighter colours do seem to 'brighten' the mood somewhat. Thanks a bunch for the response. [UK_Shree]
i like black, but doesnt mean i do wear black all the time.. LOL i mean i have different moods every now and then, there are times that i wanna wear something pink, lavender, green , red..it really depends on my mood. [carrine]
its true. the colors we wear can inspire our mood and the things we do. and people might appreciate us with the colors our blouse, or pants or skirts. more inspiring if thats the case. right. LOL [carrine]
I do like the color black from time to time when it comes to clothing. Purple is actually my color of choice or any variation of it. I think that I can look good in black especially if it is a turtle neck sweater or something of that sort. But I do not really make a habit of it too much. I also think that a black tee shirt or sweater can look half decent with a nice pair of blue jeans. It can kind of make a nice style that way. When it comes to black shoes I really like certain types of those. Black sandals and certain other types of black dress shoes can really go great with the right ensemble. [bamakelly]
Thanks a lot for the thoughtful response bamakelly! [UK_Shree]
no, i dont think we wear it too much. i like black because it pretty much goes with anything. hubby and i went to a funeral today and of course, wore black out of respect, but i was thinking just how versitile and how much you can wear with black. [cher913]
Thats true, black can be worn for more sombre occassions but can also be jazzed up if required. Thanks a lot for the response cher913. [UK_Shree]
black is a safe and sexy color.if you feel "fat" in certain days, wear a black dress and you'll instantly feel sexy.a lot of my clothes are in black.I love black because when I don't feel like matching my clothes, I wear black and instantly I feel fashionable. [my_name_is_coco]
I know what you mean. Black is definitely a colour that never goes out of fashion and the fact that it suits all skin types means it can make anyone feel more attractive in a flash. [UK_Shree]
black is a safe but sexy color.if you feel "fat" in certain days and you'll feel sexy in an instant.black creates an aura of mystery.a lot of my clothes are in black.if I don't feel like matching my clothes I just wear black.instantly I feel fashionable. [my_name_is_coco]
I do agree that black is always in fashion. Bit of a shame if you never experiment with other colours though I think. Thanks for the response. [UK_Shree]
Black is perhaps the most favourite colour to be worn! I see two chief reasons for that: 1. It looks really good on White skin. 2. In cold countries, black is worn due to its heat absorbing capabilities. Black colour is an unauspicious colour to wear according to our rituals here, but it came all the way from West as a fashion, and its already covered the fashion world and the clothing industry here in India. [amitksing]
Yes sometimes it is considered unlucky to wear black at weddings for example. However it can be made to look very glamourous if worn with the right accessories. Thanks for replying. [UK_Shree]
Black almost goes well with anything. For me the benefits I see in black is that when it gets dirty, it is less obvious, has a slimming effect and because it is a basic color, you can easily mix and match. [Theresaaiza]
I agree. These numerous advantages means that most of us do own a large number of black clothes though! Thanks for the response. [UK_Shree]
I am so guilty of wearing to much black. At least 75% of my closet is black. I really try not to buy black cloths but somehow i keep ending up with more. It is an easy color to wear, it goes with everything and if you want to look dressy black is always a sure thing. I think the problem is if you wear some of these crazy colors i keep seeing in the stores you need a purse to match or shoes or a belt, so its just way easier to stick with good old black. [sway2513]
Thats a good point. When you do wear other colours it does look a lot better to match them with at least one more item and that is not always so simple! [UK_Shree]
Yea, black grey and white are all easy to wear. They go with anything, but they can get boring too. [tinam13]
Yes especially easy as they seem to suit every complexion. Thanks for the response. [UK_Shree]
Wearing black is certainly an easy option. It looks elegant and it makes people look slimmer - and since "slim" is the "in" fashion when it comes to type of figure, then that's a good consideration. However, living in a tropical country makes it a little more difficult to wear black because the fabric is so much hotter than light colored ones. I prefer to wear black only when I'm sure that I would be spending my day/night in an air conditioned room/office/mall/place. Thanks for the response on my discussion! [oyenkai]
I agree that black clothes is the easiest option. It's very slimming too - LOL. I don't know about anyone else but I personally wear too much black because my job's dress code is black and white. I mess up white too easily, so I got all black - all the time. [cchitnarain]
