Do They Check The Mirror

Yesterday I was in a store and there were two young ladies working there. They were both dressed inappropriate for work and also for their size. First off I am not pitting down PLUS size people as I have a few friemds that are PLUS SIZE. These two youn ladies had on very short sleeves with a plunging neckline that showed half of thir bosooms! It was not appealing at all. he arms looked like franks cooking in water and ready to bust open. The sleeves were very tight around the heavy arm. Personally I am getting sick of this current style of SHOE ME THE BOOBS. It might be ok for the bar if they are trying to pick up a man but not work. They had on capri type pants that were also so tight the seam was up the privaye areas and the panty line was visible. Perhaps if they would have taken one or two sizes bigger it would not have been so bad. Do you think people are just too proud to buy a size 14 so they squeeze into an 8 or 10? Do you think they look in a mirror and really think they look good?

I know exactly what you are talking about. They think they look cute but they don't. w00tIts crazy to where tight clothes when you are big it just makes you look bigger. If they wore the right size it wouldn't look so bad. [lelin1123]
it never be a big problem, if we felt as successful private, we will feel worthy with our appearance [zanragtg]

you sure give a good description of wat you see, u have given a clear picture, i too see lots of women who do that, as you said doing it in work place is just not right, however , they would be wanting to buy a lesser sized dress to control their growth and have a target as to not exceed the current dress size limit....just a thought [san_683]
Even putting the size issue aside the type of clothing they wore was inappropriate for working in a retail store. [muscles4me]

Like you, I have friends who are plus size and even skinny like a living skeleton, but they have no problem in dressing up themselves. A few, yes. I have also seen this kind of people in the mall and it was really an eye sore. Why can't they just wear something that is perfectly right to their size? I am sure they will look a LOT better. I think it is most probably because of insecurity and low self-esteem or could be that they just have a bad taste in fashion like some people who have normal body size. lol [corrycrystal]
Possibly they are ashamed to buy a larger size. They should aleas buy something that covers their books and arms. It is down right gross. [muscles4me]

They DO look in the mirror, i'm almost sure of it...And YES they do think they look good. Young people today like everything showing & skin tight..When i was their age, iwore tight pants also..it's just the thing to do...Now we never had plunging neck lines, but it was because we had NO boobies then....They are proudof their body... BUT it is inapproprate for WORK attire i think...Lori [dumblnddzzy]
WOW I think that is just plain rude to speak lik that about smebody, nO matter how they are dressed///Lori [dumblnddzzy]

I can picture these women so well! (LOL) I have wondered whether people like that are convinced that they look good or just don't care. They should care though because as much as I don't think people should be judged by their appearance it is not as if these folks can't help the way they look; all they need to do is make different choices when dressing themselves; it is not about beauty or size just good taste!happy [paula27661]
I would never judge someone for their weight (if they need to lose weight it is a personal matter they hopefully fix for their health... not my business though), BUT how they dress is a different story, these are new clothes they are buying in the wrong size. If they were poor and wearing hand me downs it would be different. [muscles4me]

Hi musclesforme! I have seen that alot too. Even sometimes smaller people will buy clothes that are just to small and it doesn't flatter their bodies. I don't know if it's pride that they are thinking about but it would make them look so much nicer to just get a size or two bigger. There people that think the more they show the better they look but I have always been the type to leave a little to the imagination. I think it's more attractive then letting it all hang out. [JenInTN]
Cover up is my thought on it all. Kind of reminds me back in the 60's in high school skirts had to be as long as the crease in your knee but once out the door we rolled up the waist band. [muscles4me]

I have thought the same thing for some time. However, no one else seemed to notice, or so i thought, until you wrote this discussion. I am happy to know that i am not the only one in the world that dislikes inappropriate dressing in the work place, and in other business settings. [ShirleyBillingsley]
You are not the only one. I hesitated starting this discussion for fear I would step on alot of toes but since I am not addressing the weight issue as much as the inappropriate dress issue most seem ok. [muscles4me]

Hi ya muscles4me I think you are quite right in what you say. I am a larger lady myself and wouldn't dream of going out wearing clothes that were clearly too tight for me. I hate my lumps and bumps and don't wish for others to experience the sight of them either. I once worked with a woman who wore low tops and was serving a gentleman who copped an eyeful. He later phone the company to complain!! I was glad of this because I also felt it was inapropriate to wear such low tops when all is on view when bending down!! [Humbug25]
As another poster mentioned there is a time and a place for everything. A retail store is not the place. [muscles4me]

I think they look in the mirror like we do but the only difference is that they do not know how other people will see them, and maybe that they believe they are well dressed when in fact no one told them that they do not look good at all. [med889]

I'm a plus size that's battled my weight all my life and I'm as appalled as you are at how people dress! What are they thinking?! I'd never go out in public like that and don't even dress that way in private. I don't appreciate seeing women who wear tops so short I have to look at their rolls of fat. I also don't like seeing men whose shirts are too short to hide the belly falling over their belt. I have no idea what people are thinking! There is no pride these days. They buy the clothing that small to show off their bodies so I think they don't see what the mirror tells them or they just don't care. [dragon54u]
everyone has their own self image and act in the way that perceive themselves. [kb5000]

I'm really not sure WHAT this trend is. When I was heavy I tried to 'camoflauge' it a bit. Tried to look slimmer but not look like I was squishing out of my clothes. It IS very unattractive and I've heard men comment on it many times. They seem grossed out by it, where they will think that a nicely dressed plus size woman is attractive. Maybe if the guys would speak up these gals wouldn't dress like this. Perhaps it is because designer clothes are not being made in larger sizes... they promote only one type of look that is simply not possible with different shapes of bodies. Maybe this makes women feel so bad about themselves they go into denial about how these clothes were not made for them. Maybe designers should consider the shape or real everyday women they have been ignoring. Some cleavage is ok, but..yea....the squished out boobs look...is SO nasty. I wonder why their own parents don't help them buy more flattering attire??? My dad would have NOT let me out like that, but then...many parents just don't seem to car anymore. And many adults are just as bad or worse. My son's PREVIOUS pediatrician....well..suffice it to say it was like walking into Hoochie Central! Even the Dr's were unprofessional and VERY scantily clad. It's really hard to take a 30+ yr old woman, seriously, when she's dressed like my husband's skanky 19 yr old niece...ya know? I felt like, "oh and I'm supposed to LISTEN to you?" ha...uh huh. Let me consult Oprah first! pppfffttttt Pullleeeze! I guess you can tell this is a pet peeve of mine? heee [Irishfrndly65]
You know what's just as bad, the BUTT CRACK. And becaus of the lowrise jeans I'm seeing adult butt crack too! Please it's unappealing on the young one, much less the adults!! [Irishfrndly65]

I am plus size, no offense taken. I so agree with you. I see hefty people dressing like they are itty bitty. Everything is hanging out, I don't understand it neither. it doesn't look good one bit. [Polly1]
Not only does it look bad I am sure it is uncomfortable as well. [muscles4me]

Not knowing what kind of store is was, it's amazing that the store owners would allow employees to dress like that. It shows a lack of self respect and certainly does nothing to shed a good light on the business. Unless you happened to be shopping at a 'Sleeze-R-Me' store, that was totally inappropriate. At my age and given the opportunity, I'm not above quietly saying something like, "You seem like such a warm, nice and intelligent girl, why would you dress like that?" Maybe they just don't realize how they look to others. Me and Maxine, we're more than willing to tell 'em...lol. [catdla1]
Here's another thought for a comment. "Doesn't that cut off your circulation? " Or, "Before I had surgery to take care of my varicose veins, I had to wear tight/support too, although I opted for something UNDER my clothing. I feel bad for you dearie...." Love your comment too Having people dressed like that is like having some one with no teeth working for a dentist. Gave Tukay the hugs and kisses! She looked pleased, now she's wondering what's for lunch.... [catdla1]

This is so common now a days. I actually don't care what they wear and it is obvious that they don't either. I work in a store and we have had a couple of workers that dress like that...one actually does have the body for it but still, it is not appropriate for work. My boss has had to take them aside which embarrasses him and angers them. It kind of angers me a bit too because our dress code becomes stricter and stricter in hopes of avoiding this type of dress. We can not wear shorts because some would take it to an extreme. We can't wear the tank tops with spagetti straps which is about all I own for summer tops. I am tiny and I layer my clothes...nothing is showing...still some would wear them hanging out. Like you said... a time and place for everything.happy [sid556]
I think after they are told once the second time they should have to clock out with no pay and go home to change cloths. Next time they should loose their jobs. [muscles4me]

I think they have Magic mirrors... [BarBaraPrz]
LOL....oh now that is bringing back memories of my old school picnics. FUNNY! Thanks Bar, I needed a chuckle today/ [muscles4me]

I am not a stick skinny lady. I know that there are certain things that I should not wear. I am a firm believer that there are certain things that should not be made in certain sizes. The problem with that is that there are some people like the ones you just described that buy things that do not fit and try to squeeze into them. I was friends with a girl in high school that swore she was a size 10 and liked to borrow another friends size 10 jeans. She ended up with the "camel toe" and pockets that looked like they were going to rip. I have not been a size 10 since I probably was 10. I do not go around advertising what size jeans I wear, but I also do not try to buy ones that are way too small. I prefer to be comfortable rather that struggling to breath all day. [lilybug]
Actually who cares what the tage says. As a personal trainer I have seen size 8 people wanting to workout that were very unfirm. They trained hard, gained weight and freaked out but when I told them they lost 2 inchs in the hips and 1 and 3/4 inches in the waist they smiled. I had a client that was size 12 and wanted to loose her stomach just a small one, she had twins 2 months before). She weighed 155lbs but her bodyfat at start was only 16% which is low for a female. She is now 150 lbs and her bodyfat is 12% and she has a flat stomach. It took 3 months but she did it, shenculd wear a ten but feels better in her 12. Plus, she bought state of the Art running shoes that help her look and feel sexy while working out. We all want to feel our best. I think it is about working with what we have and celebrating the small achievements. [muscles4me]

Oh ,my gosh, I know exactly what you mean!! I to, am not against plus sizes. I am not a slim trim spring chicken myself, but I do have some self pride and dignity. I see women dressed with everything hanging out.. I am sorry but there is no way you can convince me that they actually think they look nice, appropriate, presentable or professional with ever single bump and bulge and lump of celllite, not only exposed, but emphasised!!! I do not like having their overly exposed cleavage, being forced in my face as they bend over to hand me my change or bag my purchase. I am a 38DD - it can be concealed dignified-ly and still look nice. No, I don't think they are to proud to by a bigger size, I think they just don't care. Style is sloppy, frumpy, slouchy and "urban decay"... but that don't mean you have to wear it when it makes you look ugly, disgusting and even when it makes you open yourself up to teasing and made fun of. People talk, nice or not...does wearing something so small cause that's the style make you feel better even when you know people are laughing and making fun of you behind your back? I sure wouldn't think it'd be worth it! I just don't know why employers don't have move of a dress code. Frumpy sloppy employees does not say "this is a great place to shop" to prospective customers! Don't get me wrong, I am not saying you have to be in high heels and a skirt all the time, even tho that is what I prefer for myself, but come on...private parts exposed by either hanging out or barely covered...that's just gross and ugly and no excuse... other than the person just doesn't care. I have seen females in a get up..or lack thereof.... and literally stopped in my tracks, shook my head and then had to turn to look again as they passed by to make sure I wasn't dreaming, cause their attire was so ridiculous I just couldn't believe someone would wear that out in public!!! Clothes are not that expensive that someone can say that they can't afford any better. A regular t-shirt costs the same or even less than that thin, spaghetti strap tank top. A size 14 costs the same as a size 8. Name brands don't always fit better than Kohl's brand or Target. THey just cost more. Sorry, that is a really sore subject with me. I just think that women have trashed themselves so much in the recent decade and they just look like they crawled out of the bottom of the rag bag. They don't seem to have any dignity in how they look or pride in themselves for the person they are. Just doesn't give women a good name or reputation. We are better than that. And since first appearances are what often clinches the deal before it even has a chance to be revealed, what you see is what you get. This trashy appearance is trashing women. [coffeebreak]
I know. Retail and such is not easy ... you are on your feet all day... even a better arguement for being comfortable!!!Those tight pants get uncomfortable and gravity is always pulling on us...anyone bigger than a 34C knows that they can get rather 'heavy" and uncomfortable at times! [coffeebreak]

If they do think they look good they need to get them some glasses to look through. I agree w/you it's disgusting the way people dress letting it all hang out. i'm tired os seeing boobs & tired of seeing man's behinds hanging out when they wear their pants so low, whoever started that ridiculous habit ought to be shot, lol. [ANTIQUELADY]
lollol. We agree on so many thing my friend. [muscles4me]

I have seen this too! Most of the time the person is on the younger side and I think, wants to wear what her friends are wearing. Or it could be they see all of these people wearing tight clothes on reality shows and think that is actually how most people act. That is sad, because many people on reality shows do not dress or behave how the normal population would. I very seldom see it in my age group. (+50) People in my age group like to wear their clothing a little more on the loose side. We enjoy comfort more than the style. Also today, most employers have a certain pollicy or dress code. As for your second question,I believe they dolook in the mirror, but see what they want to see. They probably will continue the trend till someone with little or no tact tells them how they really look. [pstclaire]
If the mirror does not give them a clue I doubt if a person with no tact would. I personally think cloths that are too tight are irritating and uncomfortable. [muscles4me]

I am no longer a stick and am about a size 14. I dress for my size and realize that I have to dress for others, too, not just me. I will ask the opinion of others to see, what I am wearing, is not inappropriate. I want to look mature and do not want people to feel as you do about what I wear. I am always worried about looking bad, even when I was thin. [nanajanet]
Yeah, those "I went from size 14 to sixe 2"... well you still don't look size 2! I dont believe it either - but you notice on those kinds of ads, there is a note at the bottom of the screen - quick or you miss it --- that says "results not typical". My daughter was a size 2 for awhile even after her pregnancy. I was never that thin, but she didn't look thin or boney so when she said size 2, I wasn't all that shocked...smallest I ever was ( LONG time ago!!!) was size 7/8 and I was NOT skinny. [coffeebreak]

Hi, Muscles! I've wondered about this myself. Maybe it's the reason I usually wear my clothes too big. If I weren't a bit chubby, I still don't think I could be comfortable showing the world everything that should be saved for my husband. I think they look disgusting, but they obviously don't agree! [cobrateacher]
Many of them don't wear underwear!blush [cobrateacher]

It does look unattractive when ANYBODY is wearing too tight clothing, plus size or not. But perhaps these two had recently gone up a size and were dieting or just didn't have the money yet for a new wardrobe. Or maybe they really did think it looked good. Who knows? [dawnald]
I knowhee two ladies and as long as they have been in this store they have been more or less the same size. This store used to gave a dress code because I worked there at one time. used to be long or short sleeves and no sleeveless of tanks. Skirts or slacks in black, navy or beigh only. Shirts had to be red, black or white only. [muscles4me]

Hi muscles, I have seen people squeezing into a smaller clothing and wonder why? surely it can't be comfortable for them, as for me I buy clothes that fits me and be comfy with it, I take a size 12 but sometimes its 14 depends what stores I buy them from as they are different. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
what a shame that business are no longer allowed to have strict dress codes unless they give a uniform. [muscles4me]

I guess if they're just working a retail position, the dress code would be a lot more relaxed, so I would be more forgiving even if I didn't think the look was particularly flattering. It is possible that their pride was causing them to buy clothing a size too small, but another way to look at it is that if they are working a retail job, they probably don't make enough money to go buy new work appropriate clothing when they put on weight. I know I had times in my life where nothing in my closet seemed to fit anymore, but I certainly didn't have enough money to even afford to visit the thrift store for new duds. Heck, I went through a period of my life where I had less than $20 a month for groceries. New clothing would have been unheard of. [breepeace]
I tink this store should provide a smock for these ladies to cover up with. [muscles4me]

I think it has to do with the way the people on tv and in Movies dress. I noticed that almost everyone on TV wears clothes that are too little for them. If they had to button that jacket they have on it would be impossible and just look how the blouse gaps and straines at the buttons. What's wrong with these people can't they see how bad these clothes look on them? If this is the style I want no part of it. The supervisor should tell them about the dress code and if they can't abide by it then find another job! No one wants to see boobs or a pantyline on any sales clerk, young or old, fat or skinny.. [Kowgirl]
I agree with you but at this store the supervisor is also a poorly dresed clerk. [muscles4me]

i know what you mean. i have a teenaged daughter! i am constantly on her to pull her shirt up. but society focuses on thin people and that is why people buy 2 sizes too small in my opinion. [cher913]
I would much rather buy something a size too big! [muscles4me]

hiya muscles4me Personally I wouldn't dress like that even if I was in my youth and also think it's unattractive, but it's anyone' perogative to dress as they wish, no? Believe it or not, there are also some men that are turned on by that sort of thing even although most men probably aren't. It's possible that they are in denial about their weight and even if they are checking in the mirror, they won't see what others see. I have to agree though, there's a time and place for everything. Alice happy [Aliceinwebland]
Thanks Alice, I guess they are just the opposite of the thin size 2 lady who thinks her butt looks too big. [muscles4me]

Being plus sized I can say I always look for something comfortable fitting that hides the rolls. And too proud to buy a 14?!?!?! 14-16 is actually the AVERAGE US womans size BTW. I also think that the outfits they are wearing maybe a lil much for work depending on their work place rules. But if you know of what things were like when I was a teen big ol' hawiaaian flower prings in awsome colors like brown, pea greens, tan... yeah not cool! So it's nice to see things have come around where some genious got the idea that someone who is bigger than a 10/12 would like to be fashionable and is not ELDERLY! But with those fashions one must dress at their own discression to what looks decent in public no matter their size. I've seen 50 somethings dress like street walkers! I don't care if they are a sz 4 or a size 32 they shouldn't look like they are pedaling themselves. Though there are chubby chasers that may find tight clothes on figures that aren't lean appealing. I agree if you are talking about the muffin tops going on. Especially with the teenagers, but perhaps they feel the same way I did as a teenager. If I don't wear the cool clothes I won't fit in and the cool clothes don't always go the next size or two bigger w/o looking like your mum or grandmum (depending on where you shop). How embarassing would that be if you wore something your grandmother could fit into? ninja [3SnuggleBunnies]
I still say that no matter what or size is our clothing should fit us and we should not expose or bodies. [muscles4me]

Sometimes I think heavier people tend to look at above the chest mirrors and don't see the rest. Seems lately, though I have been seeing alot of heavier people wearing tight clothes and parts of their stomach or back or thighs and butt hang out of their clothes and it is kind of nasty. I don't think they know how they look. [mzz663]
YEP.. I agree it is nasty looking on alot of them. [muscles4me]

The problem may be somewhat their fault, but also not. Personally I'm not a very small girl for my age (I'm 16 and a size 7 jeans) but I'm certainly not the biggest one around. Despite this, I find that shopping for my size is a hassle. It goes like this at most shops and malls: I go to the clearance racks first (in this economy, how can you not?), but usually the only things in my size are uninteresting or too "old" for me.The sales racks themselves always seem to carry sizes from 0-5. My point is that usually the cutest clothes are made for smaller sizes. Sure, there are plus size stores, but those never really have anything good. Implicit in the very "fabric" (pun intended) of our society is the assumption that thin is pretty, and pretty things are made for the thin. The girls are already fat; that's bad enough, but must they be unfashionable as well? [AliasAurora]

himuscles4me I hate to see women of my age and size doing'what you have described . its sickening to me and I am a large woman and what you so charitably said sized 14 probably should have been'more like 18 or 20.I agree they should wear a siZe that fits them not'one that makes them look like what my son calls hootchy mamas. I also have seen slim women pour themselves into a size 4 and they really need a size 10 or 12.at any size and age if your clothes are so tight it looks like you would split them if you bent over, get a larger size asits just not attractive. [Hatley]
LOL....hootcy mammas?? i have not heard that ine in a long time. [muscles4me]

Hey muscles! I so do agree with you! And I am lmao with the lovely picture that you described of these too young ladies! I have seen that "look" before and wondered the same thing! I don't know if they honestly think that they look great or the are just totally in denial! I see women looking like that all the time! They look exactly like you said like they tried to stuff themselves into clothes that were at least 2 or more sizes too small! I don't know how they have the nerve to walk around looking like that in public! I, myself am about 10 pounds overweight right now and I feel like I am so fat and disgusting! And I know that I wouldn't dare go out of the house with my fat hanging out all over the place! [Opal26]
ten pounds is noy that much. But even if a lady is not overweight she shoud check a dang mirror debfore she leaves the house. I am so sick of seeing the upper half of the female breast on these young females I almost want to have mine removed!!!!!! [muscles4me]

LOL Your description is cracking me up! But they are young, and maybe need some advice per say! LOL. I do agree wtih you, just because you are plus size does not mean you have to dress inappropriately. We all should dress for our size, and see what suits us. Well some poeple do ahve dody image issues, that may play a part in them trying to squeeze into smaller sizes, and or they just don't care, which I think is more of a valid reason. I have friends who are plus size, and they sometimes dress better than me! So it really is a do I care how I look thing. Even a lot of celebrity lines now carry sizes and styles appropriate for normal sized women of every size. So you can pick out things you like. It just means you have to want to try and take an active role in how you present yourself to the world. [cocoprincess31]
I am glad I could make you smile! happy. I was afraid I would get alot of people screaming at me about being mean to the PLUS sizes but I am not. [muscles4me]

I have seen this way too many times. I actually have a inlaw that does this too. I think she thinks that she still the same size. Which in reality she has gotten bigger than I am. To make it worse she is older than me and dresses the way a 30 old would dress. I would love to tell her the truth. [rosepedal64]
Yes that sounds like something to do. Take a picture that way maybe she will see how funny she looks. I know that I have heard that older women sometimes want to look like the younger generation, but I think if this what she wants to do then she should get the right size first. [rosepedal64]

I know exactly what you are saying. There's a fine line in being way too tight and being baggy. Plus size ladies need to really check themselves out before leaving home. I have seen some older plus sized ladies who look just fantastic in their clothing. The younger generation however isn't quite as stylish. I was in a children's store last weekend and one of the employees looked horrible. She was young and dressed just as you mention here in the discussion. Revealing, yes but not a pretty revealing. Rather repulsive. I would think the store should have better rules about grooming especially when it comes to dealing with the public. By the way, the majority of the customers who go in the store are females. Can't figure out who they were trying to impress. [carolbee]
Unfortunnately it seems to only be gettin worse. The store I am speaking of mostly deals with females also. I would think they would be more comfortable dressed more modestly and in cothes not so tight. [muscles4me]

I can imagine how they look like. It may look bad to you eyes but for them they might be thinking they look cool and sexy with tight clothes which is definately WRONG!!!!People call it a trend and fashion but they do not realize they are just welcoming rapist and danger to their life. I would say it is just convincing themself to say they are not under the big size category as they can fit into a smaller size. They do not actually think they look good infront of the mirro but are just confident of their choice of TIGHT cloths. I know its bad to comment on people's dressing but its a bit irritating when you see them wearing something they can hardly breath on. There are many big size cloths that can make you look good when you are on it. You would look so much better than the small size ones that hardly fit on you. [thanusha85]
It is difficult for me to understand why they contunue to buy clothes is the too small size. I mean its not like they are wearing a hand me down or or piece of clothing from last year when they were 15 pounds lighter. [muscles4me]

I am a plus size woman myself (working on losing the weight by healthy eating and daily swimming and walking, I might add!) Despite this, I absolutely agree with you! People, of course, have the right to wear what they choose, and to express themselves as they wish. However, I do believe there is a standard of dress, taste and modesty especially at work. It does reflect on the business you work for, if you look inappropriate, and so it is not entirely a case of the individuals right, your workplace has a right to expect professionally appropriate dress, and tasteful (in the sense of 'decent')dress, in my opinion. I do find it such a shame when overweight women draw attention to themselves in a negative way by their clothes - and by this, I don't mean that a larger lady shouldn't carry herself with pride, and be seen, if thats her choice - I am referring to those who wear tightly fitting clothes, clothes that are too revealing maybe. I say 'a shame' because, in all probability, these ladies are trying to look their best, trying to look nice in their 'sexy' tight clothes, and it has the opposite effect. I have seen larger women look beautiful because they know how to dress, to wear clothes that show their assets but that skim over other parts, creating a proportionate silhouette. Not too tight, and not too big either - a trap I find I fall into myself is to wear baggy tops or pants which actually make me look bigger, I have realized, than something properly fitted would. Well, you live and learn - sometimes on your own, and sometimes by seeing what NOT to do in others! [EnglishTeaDuck]
you made many good points and I wish you luck with your exercise and diet. I suggest adding some weights to your workout program. [muscles4me]

Well I think they are also doing some damage to themselves by Squeezing into Clothes that are to small Also they can not be comfortable as it is also squeezing all their insides and will not be able to breathe properly I don't think they are to proud believe it or not they think they look good when really they look a mess [gabs8513]
lollolWhat gets me is I know this place says no faded blue jeans and no flip flops but NOTHING about the other things I have mentioned. I guess they are being backed by the ACLU....lol [muscles4me]

I have a large size friend who is the same way. She wears capri pants that make her look huge, and then she has tops with puffy sleeves that make her arms look larger. Also she wears the stuff too tight which makes her 290 pounds look like 600! I was beginning to think that I was becoming a prude! Nothing looks nicer to me than a gentleman in trousers or jeans that fit and a nice shirt, or a suit. Same with the ladies. I love seeing women dressed in properly fitting clothes (not stuff that makes them look trampy) and well groomed. I was fascinated today at the pizzaria that we went to... one of the counter girls had on a skirt that barely covered her crotch and it had a full underskirt (like square dancers use). Every time she walked across the room you could see her fanny!! Of course hand in glove with that I was walking down the street behind a guy with the jeans that the crotch was at the knees...plus they didn't fit his waist. I was mesmerized walking behind him wondering how soon the pants would fall all the way down. I wasn't disappointed! But I was mooned! I admit that I am really tired of seeing guys wander around with their under shorts in nearly full view of the people around them. Yes, as it has been said many times, we don't see ourselves as we really are. What we have had to say about the ladies and gentlemen we've observed have proven the statement true. [Loverbear]
I now hat you eman about stylish. I know I am a prude. When I went to work in the late 60's there was a stict dress code. [muscles4me]

what's more: weren't sales ladies present when they picked up those clothes? i do think that much as they would want to make a sale they also "recommend". also, i don't think those ladies you mentioned are "in tune" with their surroundings for if they are they would have been aware of the "impression" they're making. [Ritchelle]
happy then those ladies really didn't check the mirror. or they need prescription glasses happy. [Ritchelle]

I have to laugh hard before responding. I liked the responses too.. LOL nice topic... Well I too dont judge people about their size but how they carry them selves in public. This 2 ladies surely didn't care of what people would say about how they look. All they care about is the self esteem they feel thinking they look pretty. Funny is we see alot of people like this and just cant help but feel disgusted, yet to them we are just reacting cause we dont have what they can show... My mom use to tell me when I was young and sees this kinds of people. My mom would say " this girls will surely get guys, but guys who are after their boobies and whats hiding under their showing panties... and not loving them because they themselves do care about how people respect or love them. [jaizhi]
I know for sure both of these young ladies are married. The store I am speaking of gets very few men unless they are with a female. Last time I was there the manager!!!!!!was sitting on the floor sticking a shelf and her pants in the back were so low I saw the upper part (elastic waistband) of a thong and a butt with a tatoo of red lips! YUCK.....I wondor what that will look like in 20 or 30 tears. [muscles4me]

Hi Muscles4me Amen to that! I am sick of seeing overexposed women. And I am a firm believer in dressing for ones body size if your an 18 dont' try to squeesze your behind in a 14 it ain't workin. Even the thin girls are wearing these tight pants around the hips and it pushes up all the loose skin and creates love handles that aren't really there if they didn't wear those pants. But thats how they make these clothes now a days and Plus Size women in fact all women should check the mirror before they go out. I have seen more cleavage and bottom cracks then I can to see in my lifetime and when women who are not in the best shape put on really really tight fitting things its all hanging out for all to see and it looks a hot mess! Sorry I gotta tell it like I see it! What gets me is the young girls out here 12 and up wearing things like that I tell my daughter who is 16 No way dress appropriately when you leave this house or your not going out. [Cherryd41]
Good for you for enforcing a dress code with your daughter. Personally I would rather wear something one size too big than wear something too small. [muscles4me]

I totally agree with you. I also don't like to look at men's hairy armpits when they are wearing sleeveless tank tops anywhere other than the beach. A lot of this is cultural. In Brazil, for instanve, the fattest people, male and female, wear skimpy bikinis and they don't care how much of their rolls of fat hang out, but this repulses me. However, there are certain cultures that not only like their women plump, but are turned on by bodie squeezed into clothes like stuffed sausage. I know. O agree with you. I want to yell out --- "that looks revolting!!!!!" [fec139]
It sorta makes me wish I had a camera so I could take a snap shot and then mail a copy to that store and then to the corporate office with a note thy needa dress code enforcement. [muscles4me]

I think our appearance matters especially at our jobs. If we expect to be taken seriously we should dress professional and i do agree some people have no sense of style. I have a cousin who dresses 3 sizes too small for her size no matter how many times we tell her she looks ridiculous, she does not listen. So if she feels comfortable then thats her business. That's how i feel [dominiqueen]
I agree that it is their business how they dress but when it actually makes you look very bad while at work then something should be said. [muscles4me]

I fully agree with you. I think it's disgusting to see people dressed like that. I can't imagine how they could possibly stand to wear their clothes that tight. Seems like it would be miserable. And it is NOT acceptable to dress for work like that...unless you work in that bar! lol [renitaperrone]
They almost do look like they belong in a strip club. lol [muscles4me]

first i should ask you how you are able to explain like this in a detailed way. You have noted them in a very keen way.Thoughts are always different and we cannot blame them too .If we ask they are gonna reply its our privacy . [vinkam]
I was able to explain it for the simple reason that I witnesed it. It is a store I go to often and it used to be they had a dress code but for some reason it has either been dropped or it is being ignored. [muscles4me]

Some people have weird self-images to be sure. I've seen young women that look like old truckers. Shirts don't fit over their bellies and the pants don't cover their crack as they walk down the street and forget it if they have to bend over to get something. I've seen older women wearing spandex so tight that nothing is left to the imagination and I do mean nothing, they might as well be naked. [writersedge]
My thoughts, too. [writersedge]

I think the main reason on why so many people are wearing clothes inappropriately is the media. There are so many ads out there about dark make-up, skanky clothing, etc., stereotyping the plunging neckline tops and short skirts as "nice and fabulous". Well, to be honest, some people do really good with these clothes except that most people are wearing them in an appropriate way (i.e. at work, in the church, etc). Because of large billboards and frequent advertisments showing famous celebrities wearing (too) sexy clothes, most people think that they too would look good in these outfits whereas the fact remains that only a few can pull off such style of clothing. You can say that most of them have no mirrors (or even if they do, doesn't use it)because if they do have a mirror, they wouldn't dare go out and wear those clothes in public especially at work! [veronizm]
I was thinkin it would be a good idea for the store to put a large mirror in the back room and have everyone check how they look in the mirror. Perhaps a sign over the top saying, THIS IS HOW YOU LOK TO OTHERS! [muscles4me]

shocked Hello Muscles. I, too, am growing very tired of all the styles that show so much flesh in public, or even in the work place! For one thing, whatever our size, we should dress in a way that flatters us, not in a way that is only about being trendy. The girls you have described not only sound inappropriately dressed, but imagine how uncomfortable those pinching binding clothes must feel. Ack!thumbdown Have a great day. Karen [PeacefulWmn9]
A letter couldn't hurt!! [PeacefulWmn9]

Yes, they do look in the mirror but there are weird people that they don't bother what other people think about them. They want to be the center of attraction or noticeable that's why they wore clothes that are not suitable at the work place. Or maybe that is one of the trick of the store owner to increase sales. You see, you are bothered. he-he-he [olepmis]
I highly doubt the repulsive way they dress would increase sales. It is not really an impulse buying type of store. They sell beauty Supplies so most people do not go there unless they need shampoo, a curling iron or on of the other many items they sell. [muscles4me]

It gets on my nerves also when women dress like that. It does not look good at all and they are only Drawing negative attention to themselves instead of what they are actually looking for. I am sick of seeing boobs too. I have my own to look at. [stephcjh]
Sometimes I think they just run in the door of the store and see their favorite color so they take it without holding it up and thinking if their obese body will fit into it. [muscles4me]

Personally I have wondered the same thing. What is it with this show everything style clothing? And to think they are making shirts you can easily wear underneath these. But too many are thinking nothing of it and then wonder why men make so many Rude comments to them, or use pickup lines, etc. I also agree that I could see it if they are at a night club or something, but personally this type of outfits should not be allowed to be worn like this in more places or Business and it would be nice if people could learn how to dress in clothes more appriate or what fit their size the Best as well. [KrauseHome]
It aso irks me when they dress like that if someone will look at them they get all in a huff and say "what are they looking at?" [muscles4me]

I am sure these people look in a mirror and like what they see. They probably think it makes them look smaller. It is very inappropiate to be wearing these clothes to work. [happy6162]
I think tank tops and tube tops should not be worn to work. Now maybe if the ac was broken they might wear a sleeveless blouse but all the too small tight clothes they wear has to be uncomfortable. [muscles4me]

There are a couple of women who I work with who do this as well. My take on this is that they do look in the mirror but what they see and what we see are two different things. Either that or they have a different standard from ours on what is appropriate. [AKMEDIA2]
And what these people are wearing is no appropriate attire. It looks like they bought their cloths from a retird lap dancer! Stripper clothes or at best bar hoppers clothes for those looking to get laid. I mean the whole upper part of their breasts are showing. [muscles4me]

I don't understand it either muscles4me. How can they be comfortable with all their clothes so tight fitting like that? It's boggles my mind too. I'm surprised that their bosses let them stay at work wearing what they are. As for myself, I'm a size 14 or 16 depending on how the clothes are made or cut and I'm damned proud of it!! I will not wear tight fitting clothes because I can't stand the feeling of it. Try squatting in such clothes..... no thanks! I'd rather be much comfortable in loose fitting clothes any day of the week and is why I wear sweats most often!! LOL [CatsandDogs]
I love to wear sweats. Its my favorite part of winter. Ya know cats as a personal trainer I have seen all types of body images on people. I know of one lady who competes in bodybuilding competitions. She is 5'8" and weights 155 in competition season and ip to 170 in off season. She wears a size 10 and has a rock hard body with about 9% body fat(average woman is 21-24%). Then there is a slim gal who is so aneroxic she is always biking and running. She weight 90 lbs at 5'2" and has sagging loose skin. So we can be big and lean and we can be small and fatshockedsurrender [muscles4me]

i really dont know whats gotten into people these days. a few years ago you had to look your best and they let you go if you didnt. and look at all the employees they have to choose from these days. they could have a lot more decent women working in any of these places. i even dressed decent and cleanly neat when i went to the same Elderly persons house every day. because i knew if they didnt like how i looked there was hundreds of others to choose from that could do the job.... and almost as goodlol [bunnybon7]
