If I could afford to, I would probably buy more expensive clothing just because my tastes are more of that calibar but in the long-run I find that the cheaper clothes you find at places like Wal-Mart are actually better quality and last longer. Some of the more expensive brands that I've seen are beautiful clothing items like tank tops and whatnot but the materials are so thin and probably wouldn't last any longer than a few months before you needed to buy a new (whatever clothing item) to replace it. Well I am really not into brands because for me, I go with quality that is stylish as well. Whenever I buy clothes that I use as costume or when I buy clothes that I would only use for one occasion or two, I usually don't splurge on it. What I do spend more money on are clothes which can last long and I can use for a long time. I like investing on a good pair of jeans and even though they cost a lot, they would save me money because I don't have to buy every month and I don't have to spend whenever my jeans need fixing. theres clothes out there with brand and yet less expensive than those that are widely known or signature clothes. in our country we have our own branded clothes and thats what i bought and yet they are in good quality. theres a lot of clothes here that is not expensive so no need to buy those signature clothes like prada, D&G and etc, what matter is the way we carry it. I like to be affordable clothes at places like Walmart, Kmart, and thirft stores. I use to be more into style when I was a teenage girl, so I would beg my mom for Guess Jeans and Ked Sneakers. Yet now I am less into fashion, and more into finding good bargains and being comfortbale in my clothes. I also think that just because a style of clothes is more expensive, doesn't necessarily infer it is of a better quality, because sometimes it can be cheap quality, too. Especially if the clothes are bought more for the brand name than the quality. It depends how good is the cheap one is, otherwise i prefer to buy expensive if its good enough,cheap clothes does not mean a good way of budgeting because it sometimes just can used for a short period and you have to replace a new one.I also don't mean that expensive clothes are all good quality, sometimes what makes them cost higher is their brand or call it signature.First i prefer cheap but it has to be in good quality , and i also like expensive it less the risk of getting mislead by price and tag!It has to be affordable! I always prefer quality and comfort over price or tag (name tag). If I find something worth buying (especially if it's affordable) then there's a good chance that I'd buy it. I used to be an impulsive buyer but I'm no longer one now. What I do now is think about it and give some time. If after the amount of time that I have set have already passed and I still want such item, then I'd go for it. Binthu we can now get good quality clothes here in Walmart at really low prices so why shell out three times as much that you really cannot afford for tops for example that are made of really good quality material and great style at half the price. I prefer to buy the best quality, and if I can get away with buying a more expensive outfit that someone has given to Goodwill or to our favorite thrift shop I will. However in most cases, I have to get the clothes at the large sized shop and often at only 30 to 50 percent off. Even then it takes a lot out of my income, but for me it is worth it rather then for me to pick something up that will rip or lose buttons very easily. For the second group who can only afford cheap clothes, I would suggest that they shop at their Goodwill or Thrift shop. I have a couple of outfits since I cannot afford expensive clothes except for rare occasions like weddings, and trips, etc. and even when I need something because something is worn out, I will wear the old outfit until it looks bad. The last expensive item I bought was a jacket and I was rather upset because I did not know whether she wanted me to get it because I needed it or whether she figured since I was in my mid 60s, I am not going to live that long and should rather enjoy the last years I had left. Anyway you can find original expensive clothes at thrift shops that cost $1000 but now may only be $50 or even $10, and that is a bargain. I like to mix it up when purchasing expensive clothing and purchasing cheaper clothing. I love to go the flea markets on the weekends because they have high quality clothing and accessories for a cheaper price compared to the more high end stores. For some things I would like to be able to afford more quality items. For the most part though I do prefer the less expensive things. I do not have to worry about getting them soiled because they are so cheap I can replace it very easily. I can buy more items that are cheap and have a larger wardrobe. If I get tired of something cheap I can either give it away if it is in good condition, toss it in the garbage if it is not in good condition or make a rag of it. I do not need to wear suits to work so I can purchase anything for daily wear. If I had to be dressy, I would choose a few suits that are at least a medium quality. I think cheap looking clothes at work--unless you are not making enough money to support yourself on--is just tacky and unprofessional. Though often I have fooled my friends about my clothes when I worked because they looked more expensive than what I paid--you just have to know what looks quality and what looks cheap. [rosegardens]

Honestly most of the time I buy cheaper clothes I know it's kind of pathetic but I was being practical. Hello, Binthu.:-) I don't go for signature expensive clothes or stuff. As long as it fits good and it looks good on me, I'm ok with that. However, I also don't deprive myself from buying expensive ones.Because I know that they have an edge on the quality over a cheaper ones. However, there are also cheaper ones that are durable, so it doesn't really matter to me. But there's one rule of thumb that i always follow whenever I buy expensive stuff. Well, my friend. As I'm a member of a poor family, I always have to careful in spending money. So, I prefer buying clothes with medium quality which are both less expensive and durable. Sometimes, I get a chance of buying expensive clothes with normal price. How? Also, I sometimes prefer buying cheaper ones because even though expensive clothes have higher quality, I think that the chunk of what we actually pay for is the brand/name of the clothing item. I give more importance on the quality of the product. Normally quality has co relation with price but many time there is no relation of price with quality. hi friend!... i would prefer to buy a cheaper clothes for my daily activities.. like for going to malls,work and etc..but for my church dress..i would prefer to buy the expensive one's to last longer.. in my life.. dress is very important.... for special occasions and for church occasions.. clothes makes us woman feel pretty and feminine.. i choose dresses properly...so that i wont end up regretting in buying it... may i know what type of cloth that last long?? how about chiffon type of cloth...does it last long? i love Korean cloth...and that inspires my fashion type.. what you think my friend?? keep posting! cheers! Well, personally for me, I am not one for the really expensive brands, but at the same time I am not one for the cheaper ones as well. I overall prefer shopping at places like JCPenneys, Macys, etc. where I can get some quality for the price. Yes, I do have certain name brands I own a lot of, and really like. What I tend to do most of the time, is wait for the really good sales, or until something goes on Clearance and then stock up on what I might need then as well. Personally for me it makes it all worth while. And the better brands tend to last longer and fit better for me as well. [KrauseHome]

I suppose buying expensive or cheaper clothes depends on the country and even on the city one lives in. If the standard of life is low, few will be those who buy expensive clothes, myself included. In this case, a friend of mine who bought an expensive pair of shoes had the surprise to wear them only twice because they got broken very quickly, they had been staying in the shop for a long while. this might happen to clothes too. I prefer the more expensive brands like JCrew and Banana Republic but sadly with all the bills right now, can't exactly afford it. I have turn to buying stuff on eBay as well as stuff at Walmart for my husband. In my experience the more expensive brands tend to last much longer than cheaper brands.
