responses and comments:

Terri, I have both in my closet but prefer the plastic They do not make creases in pants. And they put a little more distance between the articles of clothing I hang up. [mamacathie]
Mamacathie I have to agree they put distance between the articles of clothing. Thanks for your response [terri0824]

I use plastic hangers. I just like that they don't bend when you put something heavy on them. I also like that they don't rust. [gewcew23]
gewcew I also have to agree with you that plastic hangers don't rust. Thank you for your response. [terri0824]

I have both in my closet, but I only use the plastic hanger's. the clothe's hang better on them, and they don't bend when you hang something heavy on them. [purplerose]
Purplerose Thank you for your response, I also have to agree with you they don't bend when you hang something heavy on them. [terri0824]

I use plastic hangers. I like the way my pants hang on the plastic hangers because they are thicker they hold the pants better. I use them for my shirts also. [OURDEW]
Ourdew Thank you for your response. I have to agree with you they do make pants hang better. [terri0824]

hmm.. i use plastic hangers.. and i feel that they are good when compared to wire hangers coz it might tear off the clothes.. so..itz always better to use plastic hangers.. and it light weighted too..:P so..i prefer plastic hangers..! [syndhujaa]
Thank you for responding. Plastic tends to be the better choice. [terri0824]

Before i use wire hangers with plastic covers because that's the trend before. But now that the plastic hangers are around and also they come into nice colors it's fun using them. Plus you won't get hurt with it. Unlike with the wire ones you can hurt yourself sometimes they have very sharp ends. [cookielover1322]
Yes, they do have sharp ends and could get hurt on them, there is one good use for them on the older cars you could get your car opened when you locked your keys in the car. [terri0824]

I have never really like wire hangers, they were always used for rabbit ears in my house! lol I do prefer the plastic hangers as they don't bend or twist when used, but I do sometimes have some that will break on me. Annoying, but they are pretty cheap to replace. :) Plus with the plastic ones there are no sharp edges for the kiddies to get hurt by. [uniquenorthern]
Yeah, I have had a few break on me too, but like you said they are cheap enough to replace. [terri0824]

Hello,terri0824,i have both plastic and wire hangers in my wardrobe but i will only use the plastic ones because the wire one may damage to the clothes especially some of them are very delicated, also the plastic ones seem to be lasted longer than the wire ones, that is why i prefer to use the plastic ones. [easy888]
Hi, easy888 are you still here, I have been trying to find you I want to chat with you? [marciascott]

I use plastic hangers the wire hangers leave a crease in the clothes and I don't like that. The plastic do break easily but they are cheap enough to replace. And better for the clothes. [bwrattybaby]
Thank you for responding. The plastic hangers rule in this discussion. Glad they are cheap enough to replace when they break. [terri0824]

I only use plastic hangers, I find that wire hangers snag our clothes a lot and sometimes they rust on clothes if they hang too long. Plus plastic hangers come in a variety of colors. Pastel on my side and earthtone on his side LOL! [KatieS]
Thank you for your response. I like the color coding thing you have. [terri0824]

Hi terri, I uses both. The plastic hangers is for those heavier clothing. As for the wire, it bends easily. Thus, I use the wire hangers for my kids cloth. Preference..... wood hanger but it is most costly than the other two. [maehan]
Thank you for your response. I do have a few wood hangers that I hang my winter coat on. [terri0824]

I use the plastic hangers. They just hold my clothes better and don't mark my clothes. [Withoutwings]
Thanks for responding to this discussion. [terri0824]

I use wire hangers for my shirts and custom plastic ones for all of my suits and other things. [bowtieguy]

No Joan Crawford here. :) I Have absolutely no preference in hangers. I'll use whatever's around. Espeically because I have so many clothes that require hangers, it's a miracle when I have enough to hang my stuff up with. I am not a hanger snob....LOL. [dfn12968]
Thanks for sharing. I guess your viewpoint is a hanger is a hanger is a hanger!!!! LOL [terri0824]

I use plastic hangers. somehow they are less thin, and hold up my clothes better. I have some wire ones from old, but I try not to use them if I can help it. only when i run out of hangers after a fresh wash, then if tehre is no choice i will hang those clothes that don't need to stay in good 'shape' on those wired ones. [squaretile]
Plastic hangers seem to be the hanger of choice. And I agree, I will use the wire ones only in dire need. But I don't have too many of those even. [terri0824]

I have had a few wire hangers. But my preference is plastic hangers. The kind of wire hangers we have eventually get rusty. I like plastic hangers because they're easier to put clothes in and they can come in different colors, are also durable and lightweight. [MariaD]
Yes, color coordination! Who would have thought! [terri0824]

From past experience I have found that wire hangers have snagged my clothes and they can be sharp too, and they can get bent easily, so I always stick with the plastic ones, besides they come in all colours too, so you don't just get the boring wired look! [wolfie34]
I too have a variety of different color of plastic hangers. [terri0824]

i really like using the plasting hanger. they are really great. i really don't like the wire. because they will develop some rust on it on the long use. i really like to care for my clothes so i just use the plastic one hopefully that i will be able to buy more plastic wires. thanks for your discussions. [ivandcruz]
I'm glad plastic hangers usually are pretty cheap to buy. [terri0824]

I choose..... Neither!! I like my wooden hangers. They dont tend to break or bend a easily and therefore the clothes stay on longer without falling off or getting tangled. And because they don't get bent they stay at the same height which makes my wardrobe look neater! [Kazashmaza]
I do own a few wooden hangers which I usually hang my winter coats on them. [terri0824]

I try to use wooden hangers as they are better for your clothes but the odd wire one is still lurking in my wardrobe along with a few plastic ones as well [austinbell]
I generally use the wooden ones for winter coats! And yes, there is always a wire one lurking around! [terri0824]

I use both depends what I find in the house when I need them. Sometimes I have too many of those and sometimes I just can't find any so I just go to the closet of other people who live with me and I take those which they don't use, it doesn't really matter if it's plastic or wire one. [lorelai]
I think I must have too many clothes because I keep running out of my plastic ones and have to do the same and go into another person's closet to retrieve more plastic ones. [terri0824]

I have both plastic and wire hangers. I use both of them to hang my cloths. I do not have any particular perferance in using the type of hangers. I have noticed about my hangers only when I saw your question about type of hangers I use. [ajithlal]
Sorry I got you to thinking! i guess it could be considered useless information. [terri0824]

i use both! I like plastic hangers more though because they are thicker and more durable. wire hangers are coated with an Insulation so that they don't rust but somehow they are more flimsy. I have so many hangers at home but somehow they never seem enough. perhaps it's because i keep buying clothes! [squaretile]
I know the feeling, I have plenty of plastic hangers, and then when I need them, I can't find them. Maybe I should get rid of some clothes! [terri0824]

We have both wire and plastic hangers. I prefer plastic ones because they do not leave rush marks on my clothes, but I cannot give my husband all the wire hangers because they bend under his pants, and so we will halve them. For the clothes we care about, we will use the plastic hangers, and the clothes we do not care about, we will use wire hangers. We really should get some of those skirt and pant hangers, but they are mostly made of steel. [suspenseful]
I think I have seen plastic pant hangers that is one piece and can hang about 5 pairs on it. Would save space in the closet too! [terri0824]

ha, this discussion is still hanging on huh! I use plastic hangers for all the reasons above. I like to space out my clothes, they don't snag the clothes, they don't make as many wrinkles, and they usually don't put those sharp bumps in the shoulders of tops. I've started to use the clip pant hangers lately. For some reason, the stores have been offering them with the purchase and I couldn't pass that up. Very nice and take up less space...Whit [whittby]
Yep, everytime I think this discussion is dead, it comes back to life. I've responses to this discussion since you have responded. This discussion now is a year old, one of my very first discussions that I started. [terri0824]

When i was younger,i remember seeing metal hangers all the time..Now and then i still them, but i never use them.Plastic hangers or just better and wont kill you if they break*** [DLOPEZ240]
Yeah plastic hangers are cheap enough to replace. [terri0824]

i use plastic hanger than wire...weightless. [julyteen]

I really like to use, plastic hangers because for my Sweaters, I like to use, plasic or wooden, so I don't have that print in it, from the shoulders. [marciascott]

I will take any hangers I can get lol, but I prefer plastic because my clothes seem to stay on better. [sophiasmom911]
Hmmm is that a hint that you want me to bring you some plastic hangers? I will have to see if I have any extra, but I really don't think that I have any right now! [terri0824]

I use plastic hangers, terri0824. I like all the different colors of plastic hangers that are available and I like to hang my clothes on the hanger color that is the same or as close to the same as the hanger. Red clothes on red hangers, green on green hangers, etc. [Transdisc]
Thanks for responding. I hang my clothes by color, but haven't gotten particular that my clothes are hung on the same color hanger. [terri0824]

I do prefer plastic to the wire hangers - unless I am needing wire to untwist and use for something else (it is good to have some hangers that are wire hanging around) though, above plastic I prefer nice rounded and smooth wooden hangers. The look, the feel, the heft, the stability, the durability... to me a wooden hanger is top choice! [Modestah]
Yes, I agree wire hangers are good to have around the house to use for something else. I like the wooden hangers for my winter coats. [terri0824]

I have platic ones. I dont perfer one over the other, i dont even remember there being an option when i went to buy them.. Do they still make the wire ones ? I think the wire ones come in handy for more then just hangers though! like getting things unstuck from the vacuume hose, and stuff like that! *smlies* Have a good night. [Sissygrl]
Sissygrl, while I was at it I requested to be your friend too since your not on my friend list. [terri0824]

We used plastic hangers. we had children in the house who are really actives kids. Running all around and playing. Its dangerous to had wire hangers lying around somewhere. Plus plastic hangers had different colors :D [hcpoirot]

Most of my hangers are plastic hanger with different colors. They are lighter and handy, and look adorable as well. I use the wire hangers for heavier clothing like jeans and coat as they won't bend easily. [lkbooi]
I think overall plastic hangers won out in this discussion and other types were brought up as well such as wood for one, which I like hanging my coats on. [terri0824]

I HATE wire hangers! And it has nothing to do with that scene in that movie (jk). Wire hangers are the worst! The only time I have them around is when I have sent something to the cleaners. I prefer the thick plastic hangers like the ones in the stores that are notched on the tops and ends to help hold your garments in place. They are shaped better and they don't bend under the weight of heavier clothing. They are also quite convenient for certain hand washables and things you don't put in the dryer. I dislike the tubular plastic ones because I don't find them to be very sturdy and they aren't shaped well. [Canellita]
I recently actually bought some of the tubular plastic hangers with the notches on the tops like you described above. Thanks for responding. [terri0824]

i have both in my closet but i dont have too many clothes that i have to hang up only own 1 suit dont have a great abundance of dress clothes but it does seem like the plastic hangars hold shirts a little better and are a little more flexible so i would probably lean towards the plastic hangars if i had to choose [timhinyy]

I use whatever hangers we have. Mostly, we use plastic because that's what I pick up when we need new hangers. Although, there are some wire hangers mixed in there. It doesn't matter what kind of hangers I use, just as long as they do their job. [CRSunrise]
