Heres A Link For You

Am I the only person that still wears cufflinks? I was doing my normal trot around the Cathedral, well the Chapter House, today, and noticed that every single man that came in had button up cuffs. I think that I only have three long sleeved shirts that are like that, all my other shirts, and I have about 30 of them, are designed with cufflinks in mind. Do you or your spouse/partner/SO etc wear cufflinks or is this another example of my dinosaur ways.

I think your "dinosaur ways" are just darlin, darlin! My man wouldn't be caught dead in a suit, much less cufflinks, and I don't like suits on him either. He's very broad shouldered with small hips and we could never afford one that fit him correctly anyway. LOL! [Irishfrndly65]
They're no use to you when you're dead Dahr'lin Sis. As I'm coffin shaped anyway, think Frankenstein only with the bolt through my cuffs, it's no big deal! My suits, not that I have worn one for a while, are wide, wide, wide! [p1kef1sh]

I hav not worn dress clothes in ages. I did wear a Tuxedo for my daughters first wedding though. Other than that time, I think the last time i DRESSED UP WITH LONG SLEEVE DRESS SHIRT ETC HAS TO HAVE BEEN BACK IN THE 70'S. i WORE CUFFLINKS WHEN i WAS A STUDENT IN cATHOLIC sCHOOL ALL THE TIME THOUGH. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ [webeishere]
Of course I dress for dinner each night. I wear my dress flannel PJ bottoms and a crisp clean white T-Shirt. rasp HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ [webeishere]

I wear them for earrings. Or, sometimes I use them to keep my front closed when the button comes off, sometimes, I even use them as cuff links.*G* *Blows ya a smooch* [thebohemianheart]
Sure they are. I think that is what people fail to see, pike. One has to be creative, sometimes. [thebohemianheart]

hi P1ke your post brings back happy memories for me. LOL. I am 46 now and about 30 years ago when I was a teen we were pinching our fathers shirts. It was up to date then for us girls to wear mens shirts. lol. As my parents were divorced and I didnt have a chance to pinch dads shirts I had my great uncles shirts to use and my mom even bought some nice cufflinks for me for my birthday. [book1962]
There we are then. Girls wear cufflinks too and I bet you looked very smart in those shirts too Book. [p1kef1sh]

I will have you know, I was married in cufflinks.. both times!! and I have a wee collection and still newer shirts that require this hardware.. elegant and glinty as it is. I wear those shirts on 'dressup days' only, since I am able to dress casual at work.. No.. the dinasaur breed is just fine and well, but the numbers are slimmer and the ocssions less, but dont we look just spiffy??? And the tie clip or pin, then?? or am I to early for that discussion?? oops? [fjaril]
HAR HARHAR!! very good! ahah and again!!HAHAHAHA.. a double!! You ARE good, I must say! but my good man, the collar studs? no never had the honour , only 'without' or 'with' buttons but I never had the real mcCoy, but I saw my father's!! yeeees, very stylish.. hmmm wonder who got them---not that I need them but I could have taken a foto and shown them off to impress you. Would you have been, I wonder? Impressed, I mean, or do you already own several pair in little cases laced with silk or cotton anyway? CARE TO SHARE A FOTO OF YOUR BEST ONES?? [fjaril]

I love the look of cufflinks, p1key, but I don't think they go with t-shirts or scrubs, which is all my hubby wears. Sigh. But you, my love, are an elegant sort and I would fully expect you to wear cufflinks the majority of the time. Hey, why don't you put up a photo of you with your favorite pair? We'd all love to see it.......xxx [novataylor]
Where do i come in on this??? [Rosekitty]

I'm not even that sophisticated. I can't stand long sleeved shirts at all!shocked I roll mine up at least. I find I over heat easily these days. [BCMike]
In summer it's very trendy to wander about in rolled up sleeves Mike. You old trendsetter you! [p1kef1sh]

An example of your endearing dinosaur ways. Personally, I think it is less wasteful, since you don't have to sew buttons on all the time. The cufflinks are interchangeable and you can wear different ones for different occasions. My spouse doesn't even wear suits, except for a funeral or a wedding. Never mind cufflinks. Pffft! He's a redneck! He's even ocassionally gotten away without even wearing a suit to some of them, too. So a man in a suit, to me, is refreshing. Neat and tidy and clean. [AnnieOakley1]
I'll dedicate my next cufflink outing just for you Annie. XX [p1kef1sh]

Hi P1kef1sh, I am female as you know and I love to see a man wear cufflinks and in fact most men I know, not necessarily for everyday wear though, DO wear cufflinks. I think it looks very smart and my friends son even wore them for his prom night and he is only 16 so this applies to all ages. Weren't dinosaurs 50,000 years ago rather than just 50? LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Dinosaurs were that long ago Ellie. Maybe it's just we Brits and a Swede that wear cufflinks these days. [p1kef1sh]

really its just the matter of professionalism.u might notice those dudes are working in some professional .....way.so donot feel.it shows new style.if we ar without .cufflinks... [nageshnnr]
I am a male who absolutely likes wearing cufflinks. Growing up and even during most of my adult life, I wore the buttoned up cuffs, no cufflinks. I don't mind dressing up either. It makes me look all professional. I wear cuff links when I'm trying to look all grown and sexy. I recently bought some new dress shirts. I didn't look at the cuffs (they were in boxes) when I bought them. It turns out that they all required cufflinks. So I went out and bought a couple of cuff link sets (they come with matching tie and handerchief). They really look cool. They're like earrings for my arms. [afdinki]

Well.... Richard had a set of cufflinks, a ring and (I think) a tie tack from Columbia with emeralds in them. They got burgled one night when we went out. He was going to wear them too, but we were rushing and so he didn't. :-( But I think he has another set of cufflinks although I don't think I've seen him wear them (maybe once)... [dawnald]
Was a long time ago in a bad neighborhood but I feel bad about his Colombia stuff. :-( [dawnald]

Hi p1key, My hubby wears t-shirts and I don't think he has any-oh, I think he has one set of cuffslick but he never wears them, you have not got dinosaur ways, you are a true gentleman and its nice to see men wearing them, it makes them look smart. Hugs. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
Hi p1key, Ooooo!!!! I like making you blush hehehe. Hugs. Tamara [tamarafireheart]

CUFFLINKS? I haven't seen any of them since my dad died. Where on earth do you buy shirts without buttons on the cuffs? I forgot you was posh and know posh shops. It will be interesting to find out how many people even know what cufflinks are. [nannacroc]
If I bought shirts with buttons on the cuff what would I do with my cufflinks Nanna? So I buy holey shirts. Not holy shirts. I leave those to clergypeople. [p1kef1sh]

Hello there p1kef1sh My brother still wears cuff links but then he is a major in the British Army and sometimes it warrants using them. I have bought him chess piece cuff links before for Christmas. My dad sometimes wears them too. Are shirts with no buttons more expensive to buy p1key? I like them on a man, I think it is a sign of sophistication. [Humbug25]
Good for him Humbug. It's important to maintain standards. [p1kef1sh]

i think its wonderful old school. my hubby always dressed nice like that. he had about 40 shirts. some for cufflinks. and 12 or so pairs of jeans for leisure and many many dress pants/slacks etc. he always carried a hankercheif in his pocket. had several ties. i gave all his cufflinks, and ties to his son after he passed away. and belts. [bunnybon7]
He sounds a very smart man and I bet that you were proud of him and proud to be out with him. I don't wear jeans at all, but I do have chinos and cord [p1kef1sh]

So you are a gentleman pIkefish! I love a man in cuff links. My husband always wore a suit for formal wear together with cuff links. It may be a dinosaur way but it looks so good. Fortunately, when he died he left three pairs of golf cuff links so I gave a pair to each son. The sons don't wear cuff links though. I like to men wearing a suit but my favourite dress for a man is blue jeans, white shirt and a jacket. [cynthiann]
He had to wait on sale to purchase jeans as only jeans from a 'guchi' shop would fit him but oh the price. So he would buy several pairs when there was a sale. I adore history and try to reach some historical places when I visit the U.K. Happy guiding! [cynthiann]

Probably not dinosaur ways in Brit, P1key - you lot need to keep your arms warm! My husband only owns one long sleeved shirt (weddings, funerals, anything) - and it has buttoned cuffs. His other shirts are all short sleeved - he probably wouldn't recognise a cufflink if it appeared in a dream. Strangely enough, I was reading in the paper on the weekend that one of our high court judges has cufflinks which read 'Guilty' and 'Not Guilty'. As you do. [guybrush]
BWAAHAHAA - my Mr Chips is more like Mr Chips wiv Gravy! When he DID have a gown and mortarboard, it was a rented one. Ah yes ... the colonies are still the colonies, guv! [guybrush]

Bad news, I think they are out of style and not practical. I didn't see them for very long time, including official meetings and weddings... Maybe I speak only about man in USA...wink [polachicago]
in most cases you neeed woman to help... [polachicago]

Well I think there is something very sexy and elegant about men wearing cufflinks, so if they have to dress up they better be wearing them..now where they wear them is up to them..whistle [Rosekitty]
... with matching suspenders and conical bra ... [guybrush]

Am not sure p1ke, every man that I know of doesn't wear them..so can't really help here...hugs littleowl [littleowl]
You know me Littleowl............ XX [p1kef1sh]

Sorry p1ke my husband doesn't even own cuff links and to be honest, I don't think my Dad does either! I don't ever remember seeing him use them and he is 64 whistleblushsurrender ~Heavens~ [heavenschild]
Well, I'll ask him net time I see him! ~Heavens~ [heavenschild]

never heard about the site. But I'll check it. thanks [julise]
Sory, I open several discussion, and mix up when typing the respon. my bad. [julise]

Oh my!!! It's been ages since I saw someone wearing cuff links....even my dad doesn't do it anymore. Fishy, time to come out of the dinosaur age....or on second thoughts...remain as you are...I think cuff links are elegant:) [SViswan]
Thank you. I secretly rather like being a dinosaur. [p1kef1sh]

i do love the look of cufflinks.i do sometimes wonder how do men look in them.my hubby is just pathetic when it comes to cufflinks.i did buy him a pair, but he didnt wear them saying it is just one of womens fancies.(actually he might not be knowing how to use them). [riyasam]
That should be "women" might fancy men........ [p1kef1sh]

Not many men wear them anymore, they did go out with the dinosaurs.. I am sure there are diehards out there that will give up their guns but not their cufflinks, but there can't be many.. I have sold vintage cuff links on ebay, they don't get many hits but when two or more people find them, the bidding gets pretty good.. So, I guess they either wear them or just collect them.. I think they are nice, I remember my husband wearing them 40 years ago, he was really very handsome when dress in a suit, white dress shirt, tie and cufflinks.. [DonnaLawson]
Over here they get worn, but that might be because we have not embraced the casual look for work really. Even supermarkets have men wearing ties working as assistants. [p1kef1sh]

You must be a dinosaur. I believe that cuff links is no longer in fashion, joining such traditions as the celluloid collar, spats, sock suspenders, watch fobs and cummerbunds on the obsolete men's fashion heap. And do not forget the wide tie and leisure suits. Like everything else I suppose it might come back in style but you need french cuffs to use the cufflinks and french cuffs are obsolete as they tend to be impractical. [mariposaman]
OK. I have all those things, Do you mean that they are not fashionable. Did you not see the list that my valet made for my visit to Singapore? I posted a discussion about it. I have to say that I didn't see too many other pith Helmets about. But there are standards you know! [p1kef1sh]

Good grief! P1ke, I have more cufflinks than the Internet has HYPERLINKS! They're all lying in a dresser drawer. It's kinda hard to put cufflinks on jersey shirts ... they have no sleeves, ya' know. I guess I could sell them for their gold and silver content but that would remove a part of my life from me, wouldn't it? Memo to self: RJ, get with it dude. Sell while the price is right. (C) 2008 RJScott [rjscott]
You are that rare person RJ. A an with sartorial taste. I can understand your reluctance to wear long sleeves down their in the "Sunshine State". But you never know when the Queen might come to tea! Hang on to them for a while longer. [p1kef1sh]

My fiance is only 27 so no he doesn't wear cufflinks. I think they are nice and think they should stay in style. I don't think you're a dinasour, you just want to look good. [camomom]
Not a bad idea, his birthday is Dec. 23. I have no idea what to get him. Thanks for the suggestion. [camomom]

I have never in the 19 years that I have been with my husband ever seen him wear a cuff link.confused He just isn't the type. He is a carpenter and painter though so it wouldn't work for him. He'd lose them for sure. Oh,Pikey(If I may call you Pikey)lol You aren't a dinosaur, far from it. Just a more classy kind of man. More sophisticated I would think to say. [mtdewgurl74]
I didn't know it was rude..sorry. I don't think my husband has ever owned a tux. He doesn't even own a suit. [mtdewgurl74]
