I have cleaned my black shoes. This is an occasional event, although one upon a time I cleaned that every day. People say that they look at shoes as a sign of the type of person we are. I don't know how true that it, but I do know that I feel very smug for having cleaned them. When did you last clean your shoes?

happyI was waiting for someone to start a discussions P1ke. Thank you,i was getting a bit irritated with my own discussions LOL. Anyway i dont wear those dressy type of shoes often,so dont clean them much.I wear trainers,flip flops or boots & i just give them a wipe. Not sure about type of person,i guess theres a quiz somewhere about that LOL. My daughter who is nearly 13,says she dont like boys unless they have white trainers,she dont like the manky ones haha. Blimey Piky ..youre throwing the posts out today...inspiration must have come with the wet weather.Shoes...ok...well im going to say that I clean my shoes...my leather ones at least...the not leather ones get a good wipe over..but the leather ones get a polish.But Mr Ruby is a sloth ..for want of a better word...and he waits ..and positions his shoes..just so..until I pounce on them..and in a frenzy I liberally apply the Kiwi (no he doesnt mind..sry couldnt resist that one)...and then spit on the leather until they are gleaming...or my spit has run out..which ever is first...He then at some point nonchalontly casts his eyes down upon the shining leather,and then sticks his size 9s in them and sails off into the sunset ..... UMMM P1ke..I love the smell of shoe polish!..My Grandpa (the Greek one) had a shoeshine parlour and i would just sit and watch the men come in and smell those wonderful scents...He cleaned hats too..this was back in the late 50's and to this day it doesn't take much to turn me on..LOL..so don't feel smug..you got me excited..LOL [Rosekitty]

I ran my crocs under the tap about 10 minutes ago, after I finnished cleaning out the chickens. Does that count as cleaning them? If you insist that cleaning shoes involves using shoe polish, then I shall have to admit that I don't know blush If one is really judged on one's shoes, I dread to think what people think about me! rotflmao As much as my handy dandy pantent leather gets worn anymore one good shinning a year is enough to keep them in tip top spit shine condition. I sure hope folks don't judge a woman or a man for that matter on the shoes one keeps for company, as my everyday white tennis shoes often stay in quite a state of disrepair. I pay about 8 dollars for them and wear them untill they are falling off my feet. I have, Nikies, and redboks, easy spirits that adorn my closet shelves, all tucked into spiffy little boxes, but non keep me as comfortable and happy as my lowly white tennis shoes! [Angelwhispers]

Confeesion time, I've never cleaned my own shoes. My dad used to clean them until I started work in a shoe shop. My boss cleaned them then and since I've been married Mr Croc has cleaned them. Mr Croc doesn't iron and I don't clean shoes, I think that's fair. [nannacroc]

Hmmm, I don't think I've ever cleaned my sandals. Dipping them in the surf at the Gulf takes care of any sand and shells. As for my dress shoes, I haven't worn them since I moved to Florida. [rjscott]

My spouse has black shoes as well, that he wears on his job. And, when he walks over the grass at the job, he picks up mud and junk on them. He tries to clean them daily so he looks good on the job. Sometimes, if I have a minute, I'll wipe the shoes off. Sometimes I repolish them. They always look so good after I'm done. And, yes, I do feel very proud! [beautyqueen26]

I clean the bootws I wear for work weekly as they are wearing down at the front from me having been on my knees trying to tidy and organise the botttom shelf!! Also when Im putting stock on the bottom shelf, I prefer to sit down or crouch on my knees!! I dont do them often except for special occasions!! [cinderella2007]

I cleaned my shoes for the first time in ages a few days ago. I was going out for a nice dinner and I needed my favorite black heels. They were a bit dusty, I hadn't worn them in awhile so I shined them up and they were hotter than ever. But other than that, I rarely clean my shoes, I just seem to get new ones. I have one pair of white sneakers. I constantly clean them, because they get dirty very easily. Every time one of my friend's sees me wearing them, she always says, I don't see how you keep your sneakers so white. I tell her that I clean them, but the next time she says the exact same thing. I don't remember the last time I cleaned my shoes. I mostly wear trainers which get tatty before I have a chance to clean them but my smart black footwear gets cleaned before I wear them if necessary. As I rarely have reason to wear them I, therefore, rarely have reason to clean them! I don't know why people think shoes are an indication of the type of person you are. The way I see it is this: I, for example, wear trainers because they are comfortable and I do a lot of walking. My trainers are usually clean enough but not immaculate. I don't see how this can show anyone anything other than maybe showing that I walk a lot. Any type of person might walk a lot, barring lazy people and those who physically can't. I think people who wear uncomfortable shoes for fashion are a bit silly though! [pumpkinjam]
I think that the point about clean shoes is that suggests a smart and tidy minded person. I don't know how true it is. I've known some very bright and some very daft people with clean shoes or boots. I won't wear trainers. Make my feet sweat and smell. [p1kef1sh]

I haven't worn shoes that need to be polished in a while. I clean my footwear every month. But when I had to wear black shoes to school, I would polish them every night till they shone! My older son's the only one who wears black shoes and he cleans them 3 days a week (the night before he needs to wear them to school). My husband wears his shoes sometimes and I do the cleaning for him.....it's been a few months since I did it for him. [SViswan]

I have white sandals and I usually get the dirt off them once a week and then once a month I will spray them. I was thinking of getting some decent white polish for them. Those things with the sponges are not that good. It is just like putting whitewash on them, but getting a white creme makes the leather more supple. You can just get them in the shoe stores, but if you go to the grocery store, you just get that white stuff in the plastic bottle with the sponge, and you do not get any white paste in those Kiwi brand tins. I don't but a friend who lives down the road who is ex forces does my boots for me LOL. If I am left to do it I cheat and use a quickshine pad or have even been known to wipe over with a baby wipe. really? shoes can tell what kind of a person is the one wearing them? i don't clean my shoes everyday. i hardly ever clean them. lol i'm too lazy to clean them. i clean them when i see that its already dirty and you can see the dirt. but if i can't see the dirt or there is little dirt, i wouldn't clean it yet. wink as for my black shoes, the material is naturally shiny so i don't have to clean it everyday. sometimes when i'm wearing it and i saw dust, i would just rub it in the back of my pants. and voila! its shiny again. lol [secretbear]
