Years ago second hand clothes used to be so much cheaper than new clothes, now clothes shops are able to sell new clothes for less than second hand clothes.
Do you still buy second hand clothes? I do as you can still pick up some good bargins, also my children needed to dress up for a school trip and I got all second hand clothes, dressed two children for a fiver.

Sometimes for my child we buy second hand clothes. In case of children who need new clothes so often it is a good option. We donate some of the clothes that are still usable and we buy also from there. When you enter in the shop there is a smell not of new clothes but of washing powder and just cleaned clothes as everything is sorted, cleaned and ironed before it goes again for sale. Sometimes you find there good bargains, even clothes never used before. [overwings]
I used to love to go to the neighborhood GoodWill and shop for items, where I work we have to clean sometime and we got real dirty so I would go the the Goodwill and find me some used clothes to wear on those days we had to clean, Goodwill got a little to expensive some of the bargain department store clothes on the clearance rack was a lot more cheaper. Hello Anne18 It is weird isn't how you can actually buy clothes cheaper in lets say, Primark, than you can in the Sue Ryder shop!! In my local charity shop here they seem to sell all shirts and blouses for no less than Ģ3.25, that seems a little bit pricey for something that has been worn countless times before!! I usually look for curtains at the moment and sometimes cookery books. I do, do a tour of the charity shops for clothes when the kids have to do fancy dress or something special for school though! I love second hand clothes. Charity shops and Ebay are great for that sort of thing. We have just booked a week away at Christmas and we are going to need warm clothes - possibly even snow kit. I have been looking on ebay for snow boots, etc for all of us and it will be a lot cheaper to kit us all out that way than to go and buy stuff new. I also get a lot of books from charity shops. my girlfriend also pick clothes from Shopping mall, which I think were rip - off. She always chosen the brand name, such as Abercrombie, Armani, even they look the same clothes as other. It is just a name. No much difference. [jzbrynn]
I have very few clothes that no one else owned before me because I'm just not willing to pay the prices. And, if the prices are too high at a thrift store, I don't buy there, either. Consignment stores are a little different in that they hand pick only the best and most current styles to put on the racks, so you have a little bit more assurance of quality. But even some of their prices are a bit more than my budget, so it's my budget that I focus on more than anything. [jerzgirl]

The thing is, kids outgrow clothes so fast, it would be foolish not to dress them in second hand clothes. many of your consignment shops offer very nice expensive clothing at a huge discount, often still with the tags on them. Even hand me downs from the family are much appreciated. It makes no sense to buy new clothes that they will not fit in within one year. You can save a bundle by dressing them in used clothing. just don't put them in ragged old stuff that is embarrassing, and you will be ahead of the game. Good topic [yanksfan1974]
I don't use to buy second hand clothes, I would prefer the new one but cheaper, It's just that most of second hand clothes not fitted to me, as it got loose already. May be, I just don't have patience searching searching on second hand clothes, but my mom sometimes use to buy me second hand clothes. She had that patience to search from them. [mayrah]
in malaysia we call this type of clothes is 'bundle clothes'.. people in rural area like to buy this second hand clothes, it cheap and sometimes still have a good quality and good brand. i and my family are using second clothes because it is cheaper and some of them are branded we call this ukay ukay, mostly now a days because of the high prizes in foods people are now practical,people choose to buy second hand so that the small money they have will be enough for their budget. I love second hand clothes. They only trouble I have is that I'm a plus sized person (not many second hand clothes are plus sized) and often those stores are not wheelchair friendly, which is an issue for me. [cripfemme]

happyHello Anne 18, I don't buy second hand clothes but my wife does for she has a lot of friends who is selling in second hand stores but selected. And if there is/are something new or nice they will contact her. It's still better to buy there even if it's second hand for they're branded and it's slightly used only. She's the one who is buying for all of us. She can exchange it if we don't like it or it doesn't fit us. Can't afford to buy branded in a department store, it will cost a fortune. Years ago there was this guy who started a business in Port of Spain, Trinidad importing factory rejects and other second hand clothes and selling them down here. It didn't last too long, for some reason, but he made some money. Also the people in charity here in Trinidad complain that they have all the clothes they need and more. it depends where you shop i think. we go to a variety of different thrift shops but the cheaper ones dont have as much of a variety as the more expensive ones. but i still favour the cheaper ones and just look for often. i am looking for specfic things, so it doesnt take me long. [cher913]
I dont buy second hand clothes but I do have some second hands. Those were hand me downs by my aunt who is so fond of me. I do not mind at all wearinf second hand clothes for as long as I know where it came from-- like from my aunt's. yes ma'am. I pretty much do all my shopping at Gabriel Brothers which is discount kind of store but usually there is a flaw with the clothing. I also shop at Goodwill which is store where people donate their old clothes. I find a lot of Old Navy in there which is my favorite but too expensive to go to the store and buy it. Also ebay sometimes has some good deals if you really hunt for them. [angelface23]
I do enjoy second hand shops, and buying used clothing and used household items. It's an old habit, but one I truly enjoy. I enjoy buying new clothes as well, but I really like snooping in the second hand places. Never know what you'll find there. I bought a 40.00 cookie jar last year for only 3.00. I just recently started buying second hand clothes. We have a thrift store that has kids clothes for $0.50. This low price includes name brands like Gap, Polo and other expensive brands. I also buy second hand lingerie but I resell the lingerie on ebay. [scarlet2000]
