Do you always buy expensive clothes?Today, one of my workmates advised me to buy expensive clothes cuz she thinks my clothes are not of good quality.I know she means good, but I still feel a little down when hearing this.Im the person who usually dresses casually.I admit I dont often buy expensive clothes .I do can afford several pieces of expensive ones but I dont think its necessary to buy them. They are costy.I can save the money for other use,for example, travelling. But my workmate thinks girls of my age should wear good clothes. Its important in finding a spouse.Do expensive clothes really make you look good?Do you think down of people who dont wear good quality clothes?Or do you judge people by their clothes?Mind you,my clothes are not as worse as you think.Im obliged to know what you think about this.

I almost never buy expensive clothes that look good, I buy clothes that I feel comfortable in. [Qorkgirl09]
And those that can make me look good.lol [sweetyethot]
hi there. First, I do not buy expensive clothes always. Well, sometimes, I do, if its really really nice and worth buying.:) But then, I can survive with 'not so' expensive clothes because I think clothes should not be the judgment of 'how' a certain person it. that's just my stand on it. =) [jaded22]
Thanks for sharing.I have several pieces of 'not so'expensive clothes.lol [sweetyethot]
I don't except for my tennis apparels, well I really don't buy them for myself but my hubby does all the time. I have sets of nike's and addidas but aside from them, I don't wear expensive stuffs. I'm just a very casual person who feels comfortable in jeans and rubber shoes.happy [mjmlagat]
I dont buy nike's or addidas. They are expensive.lol Im not an athletic person so I just buy some cheap but also comfortable sportswears. [sweetyethot]
Quality does not necessarily mean expensive. I do not care what brand of clothes I wear as long as it is cotton or wool and it is made well. Spending money on something just because it has a certain name does not mean it will look better on you or fit you better or is made better all it means is it costs more. So go for what fits and looks good on you and is made well and do not concern yourself with what other people say because they are only materialistic. :) [kedves]
I also think quality does not necesarily mean expensive.lol I like clothes that are comfortable and trendy.Generally speaking,my clothes are not bad cuz most of them are in style though they may not be well_made.lol My workmate thinks that clothes make a person while I think clothes can only build up a person's personality in some ways. [sweetyethot]
Its important in finding a sponse??? I don't think so,expensive close doesn't mean good look, doesn't mean sit you.just choose situable close, that is the only way to makes you look beautiful, that is most important. I don' t always buy expensive close, but i always buy the beautiful close, which i like very much. [Nancy101]
We think alike (Same ideas),, i too will spend my money on traveling,,or other business ,, expensive clothes are nice sometimes,, so a very few pairs of nice clothes is just cool,, mostly I got Jeans and shirts,,expensive clothes remain with me for 4 years, and then what,, [kawalnarang]
Expensive clothes cannot be easily worn out cuz they are more likely to be of good quality .They last for years but you'll grow tired of it.Or they'll be out of style. Thanks for your responding. [sweetyethot]
Hello sweetyethot I understand you're a simple lady. If you're asking my point of view, your friend is a luxurious lady. She never cares if she don't have savings as long as she can have a very expensive dress. Forget your luxurious friend, she's a bad influence of your good quality. Do and act what you are use to be. Wearing expensive dresses has nothing compared to clean, simple and good looking cheap dresses. It would have been better if when you buy expensive clothes you could wear it with the price tag still stick on it so every body around would know that you're wearing expensive clothes, but that's not the way it is. Better be humble than being boastful, there are more men like simple woman than someone like socialite lady.....Cheer up..happy [mobhomeir]
I like to live a simple life.happyI think a good quality life has little to do with expensive clothes.By the way,its really funny if you see people wear expensive clothes with the price tag sticks on it.lol Thanks for your kind words. [sweetyethot]
I always buy my clothes from Primark, which is like the cheapest clothes shop in the UK for those who don't know that. You can get hold of a tshirt for Ģ2, and a pair of jeans for Ģ4. It's so cheap. And sure, maybe the clothes won't last for aaages, but they'll last at least long enough until they would go out of fashion anyway! I don't think you should have to spend a lot of money on clothes unless you can spare that money. There are other things to have money spent on which are a little more urgent, like mortgages and bills and food and your children if you have any. [GemmaR]
I'm very much concerned about the quality, look and feel and the comfort that it gives when I wear it. If this is going to cost me much, I don't bother to spend on it. Appearance also matters to a greater extent for me. Because, not just the person.. it is also the dressing that builds up the personality for anyone. A person cannot groom himself of herself without concentration on the dressing. If you are not concerned about the way you appear, then a cloth for cover you could be anything. [PinkyPosh]
Yes,you can tell a lot from one's dressing. But dressing is not the only thing that builds up the personality for a person. For me,I like to try dressing differently.lol Thanks for your responding.Cheers! [sweetyethot]
Hey there sweetyethot. Expensive clothes tends to be more fashionable and it creates an aura of sophistication. To be honest it's not about how expensive your clothes are, or what brand it is. It's how you carry yourself and feel confident about it. I don't judge people by their clothes, that is so wrong, I judge them by the way they act and the way they talk. Ohhh and your friend probably means you should dress appropriate to your age. So wear clothes that won't make you look old and uninteresting, instead choose to wear those that will make you look younger and interesting. I saw your photo, I don't think there's anything wrong with what your wearing, or how you looked. Cheers! [brady2moss]
hi sweety, if we can afford to buy expensive clothes then the better. but if we can't really afford then it's okay. there's no problem with that. it's how you carry yourself when dressing up and what makes you feel comfortable is the important thing. in philippines, am aware of branded jeans and clothes but here in netherlands i don't really. people don't look after on what you wear. [janyen]
Hi there!happy Like what the saying goes, "never judge a book by its cover". We must not look at people by the way they dress. We can't really tell one's personality by how expensive or cheap their clothes are. For practical people, they opt buying cheap clothes and just accessorize it to make it look glamorous or expensive. Besides, it's how one carries herself/himself that would determine one's class or status in life. I don't also agree that in finding a partner in life, one should wear expensive clothing. What's important is your personality and the way you present and carry yourself in meeting someone. But there is a good thing about buying expensive clothes too, the quality. If we will pay much attention to the clothing material of expensive clothes, they are much durable than the cheap ones. I buy both cheap and expensive clothing. Not because I want to look good but because I like what I buy and am comfortable with it. Hope that helps. Ciao! wink [iskayz]
Hi, I don't think that you should buy expensive clothings. I think it is better to wear comfortable clothings. But at the same time, keep in mind that if you are working in a office, it is always better of wear official wears. In the long run you will be benefited by your getup. It gives the impression to your boss that you are serious about the work. Expensiveness is by no means should be your criteria for deciding cloths. [AnkanaGhai]
In my opinion i wear whatever i want, and whatever im comfortable with, either if its expensive or not. Don't listen to her, you can wear whatever you want! i know she may be trying to help you, but you can wear what you wants, she can't tell you what to do, and what you can and can't wear. Yes, some expensive clothes do make you look good, but in my eyes any sorta clothes can make someone look good to be honest. [xhaylea]
See ... by buying & wearing expensive cloths you can just make shine infront of your friends that ut ,... saveral time it has been seen that people are not feeliong conforatble for wearing very expensive cloths .. they jus wear it for show offf..... [rocky_rockbottom]
Really myself, i dont buy expensive clothes, but i have seen people who want and wish to wear expensive clothes, i don't know why they want, some may tell because of their prestige or some may tell because is good quality, i don't bother, i always wear inexpensive clothes because i dont have too much money to buy expensive clothes. [sajidsageer]
It has to do with ego, what you base your self worth on, how concerned you are of appearances, how much you want to keep your clothes in good shape and keep wearing them, how much you care about what your appearance communicates to others...It's personal prefernce really. No one has the right to tell you to buy more xepensive clothes unless it is a requirement for something. She values clothes and so that is where her money goes. You value traveling and that is where your money goes. Next time she tells you this tell her she should go visit paris where they make beautiful clothes...then tell her she might never get to go because she spends it all on clothes here so you will just bring her back pictures of the beautiful clothes you see there. [csrobins]
In my opinion, as long as you are not walking around naked, anything you have on is ok! I never buy anything expensive especially clothes, in fact I make a lot of my own clothes and they must look alright because people bought some of them! [xbrendax]
I don't buy expensive clothes.. But if i could get it cheaper why not.. But I'd rather not I guess.. Besides by just looking at most of it, I think I wouldn't be so comfortable wearing it.. I prefer a shirt and a pair of jeans much better.. [murkcore]
One thing is for sure, it is expensive because of the quality. The main target of the company for their clothing line is quality then the design. It is up to them, to have they are going to prove to their customers that their product has its good quality. You do not need to buy all in one. Try buying one at a time. Clothes with a popular brand and in good quality is an investment. But on the otehr hand, there's nothing wrong in wearing clothes that are cheaper than the others. It depends on how you can project the dress you are wearing. Good luck! [eselmaro]
I prefer cheap cloth casual http://dennycode.blogspot.com [yooseek]
People who wear expensive clothes want to show their status, but I do not see the point in wearing clothes to show off how much money you have. You want people to envy you, feel lower compared to you... why would you want to do that to other people? I think that it should not matter what you wear. [rogue13xmen13]
i think it is not necessary. but i think that it is important to consider the budget . you don't have to compare with other people. cause if we compare then we will feel down. i think that wearing expensive is not that important. as long as you can wear a decent dress we don't have to worry to buy those beautiful dress. there are so many people who are too concerned on buying beautiful dress and clothes and look so stylish. [hotsummer]
I am also a person who does not buy expensive clothes. I am just practical and with this times of crisis it is not advisable to buy expensive clothes. There are a lot of clothes that are affordable and yet they are of good quality. We should just learn how we can buy clothes that are not expensive but of good quality. Anyway what is important is that we should be comfortable with the clothes we are wearing. I think that rich people may wear expensive clothes because they can afford it and not so rich should stick with what they can afford. I learned to buy expensive clothes not regularly but just once or twice a year. I believe that I can spend the money in some more important things than just with one piece of branded cloth that is worth five or less pieces of not branded clothes. Sometimes I notice that not all expensive clothes are of quality but most maybe good. Being practical is okay and we should live within our means and not bragging expensive clothes even if we know we have lots of think to prioritize first. [Yori88]
Expensive clothes are not something I am interested in. As long as the clothes are nice and I don't mind it is not a famous brand. Clothes are supposed to keep warm and look nice for me, rather than showing off. I know some people care about the famous branded clothes, but it's their choice, not mine. An air headed person with Cucci clothes is still an idiot. I love China [youless]
I don't buy expensive clothes when their design go out season and become junk in my wardrobe, which means also I need wardrobe space. I'd go for reasonably priced and comfortable clothing. Ultimately it's our own personality and the depth of perspective of life that impress people. Though the first impression on how we dress is important, it is not going to last long if we do not have a respectable personality to match. [naka75]
don't let this girl get to you. Some people do feel that way. I had a friend that always got after me to wear more makeup and dress more expensive. She said that if I looked rich, I'd attract a rich guy. We had very different values. She was always dressed to kill and she did attract a rich old man and married him. I lost track of her so i have no idea if she is still happy. I dress in style but very down to earth. Jeans and cute tops etc. to work in and at home ...jeans but they may have a couple of holes. I don't buy expensive clothes. In fact most of mine are either given to me from friends or thrift store finds. I've never had a problem getting dates so I know it doesn't matter to everyone. Just be yourself and you'll be fine. [sid556]
I wouldn't pay any attention to her because personally I think that material possesions are kind of stupid and redundant. When we die all this stuff that we have is probably not going to come with is. I think we should instead spend our money on things that help make our lives better, help make us feel better, or just help us get through the day. Maybe that's expensive clothes for some people though I guess. [jambi462]
For some people, wearing expensive clothes is about impressing others.I say it's about feeling good about yourself.Nobody ever takes the time to look at the brand of your jeans or you shirt. You know what you're wearing and that's enough. Also,I don't like clothes with a big logo on them. It's just cheesy. [dany2391]
My view is while buying clothes i dont go by the brand.I look for my comfort.i buy clothes in which I'm comfortable in.I've observed some shirts they look and have the same quality of the shirts which you get at lower prices but they are expensive bcause they have a 'brand' logo on the shirt.this is what is going on.So go by your comfort and not the brand! [robinsmathew4u]
I've got some expensive clothes and I agree with your friend that they are usually of good quality. The prints and the color of the fabric doesn't fade easily. The touch of the cloth is soft. You could invest on a few expensive clothes. At least buy 1 expensive piece let us say every 3 months. Also make sure that the expensive clothes you buy does not go out of style. I only buy not so cheap trendy clothes, or those that are in style so that I do not waste too much money the moment they go out of style after a few months. [bubbletush]
expensive clothes are not always good quality. most of the cost goes towards advertising campaigns, and the quality is no better than something sometimes even 1/4 of the price. you can't judge quality by price alone. I got a Ģ1 fleece top once that has lasted better and washed better than a Ģ30 one I had. [Galena]
I don't buy expensive clothes unless I really like it and it is really different but that seldom happens. I love clothes and I notice that the there will always be stores that sells similar style of clothes, the differences will be the prices and the brand names. I will always choose the cheaper ones as long the quality is okay. It's you who wears the clothes and not the other way around so I don't really go after the brand names. [brew2x]
Hi lotter no there is no specific point in wearing the expensive clothes ,though expensive clothes look good as their material is good as per their cost ,but i think one must wear clothes which suits him or her,and must be comfortable in it,we should also take care of the latest trend going on otherwise we will feel concious in a well maintained circle, again i am saying that alll these doesnt mean that we should wear only expensive clothes. :) [shiwangipeswani]
I do not like to spend alot of money on cloths. Say for instance you and your friend are out for lunch. You have on a $4.00 blouse from a garage sale and she has on a $40.00 blouse from some swanky place. You both eat lasagna and get meat sauce on your new blouse. Try as you both do the stains do not erase. Who will feel the worse. You for messing up a $4.00 blouse or her for messing up a 440.00 blouse. As long as you wear clean cloths that fit properly you are well dressed in my opinion. Who is gonna turn back your colla and look at the label? [muscles4me]
Sweetythot, your friend is luxurious, materialistically extravagant of non-sense. We're all naked when we were born, haha. I am not saying let's all go naked. Expensive clothes also needs laundry, so does the cheap rummages in my closet. It gets soiled out, stinky and faded just like any ordinary clothes. The value of how much we are wearing doesn't matter at all. I find it a huge ridicule to act like the richest of the rich when choosing clothes brands. Modest people are better, so I think branded clothing freaks are abnormal. They probably think about their ways are nice that other people appreciated them so they think, too, they are elite and superior. Do you think they shine? When people don't care about what brand of underwear, pants, shirts, dress you're wearing it is when you realize that it's not what we are wearing but how we do better doing other things around us and for ourselves. Did you ever inquire how much is a piece of shirt from Linea Italia, a piece of M&S undy, pants from Chanel, nice dress from Esprit? That's good enough to feed a mob of hungry kids. [Kofficup]
Its not the matter of money.. but its the matter of suiting your personality.. And their are ppl out their who buy expensive clothes only for the show purpose not even thinking whether he feel comfortable in them or not.. i pity them.. [goutham14391]
I will buy clothes that are of good quality, but they will last longer. And what happens is usually I buy it at a thrift store and it cost the original owner around $200 and I got it for about $10. I do buy expensive clothes if I am going somewhere special, but even then I can always wear it at church when the weather becomes warmer. I do not feel that one should be guilty about buying something of quality, even when I buy casual, I make sure that it will not fall apart in a few months and it lasts. As for looking down on people who do not wear good quality, why should I? I mean am I so crass, that I will? I presume that they do not make enough money to buy good clothes even in second hand stores, or they are doing some work around the house. [suspenseful]
I'm a very tall person and have to wear tall clothes which usually are more costly than others. But I'm also a bargain-hunting person. I try not to pay the full price for anything. If it is too expensive, then I just wait until it goes on sale. But I go for clothes that look good on me and fit well. If WalMart has something that fits and looks good, then I'd buy it. I don't have to go to the most expensive stores. I think, if you look good in less expensive clothes and they suit you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing them. I think your workmate is wrong in telling you that your clothes are not good enough. If you are neat and clean, then you are fine. Clothes do not find you a spouse! If that is what it takes, then you don't need one. I believe your personality plays more a part than if you are wearing expensive clothes. I know I wasn't wearing expensive clothes when I met my husband-to-be. In fact, back then, I made most of my clothes. I grew up with a Mother who sewed for us and other people. Then I learned to sew for myself. I wore nice clothes, but they weren't expensive since I made them myself. I never heard my husband back then say one thing about what I had on. I made the clothes I wore on our first date! [Barb42]
Sadly, some people are hung up on how they look and the dreaded 'LABEL'. I say, if you can afford to purchase expensive clothing, then by all means go right ahead. The funny thing about this is that people would not know if a piece of clothing is expensive straight out the designer showroom if they will not say so. Other than the obvious haute couture pieces etc. What is 'good clothing?' Your work associate is probably one of those people who are living well beyond her means and is superficial. Don't put yourself in debt just because of what she says. Gap, Old Navy, Forever21 and whatever other stores are very reasonable and they look ooh so good. [janene]
If I do buy something expensive, it is something that is timeless and classic and bought for quality, in order for it to last. For stuff that I know does not need to be such quality, I buy less expensive. When I was in Italy, this past summer, I noticed that they all wore quality clothes and did not have a lot of clothes and shoes. They paid more but expected them to last for a long time. In the long run, it cost them less. So, it depends on your point of view. If you buy cheap and it does not last, it is not cheap. If you pay more but get more out of it, it is worth it. [nanajanet]
I don't judge clothes by how much they cost, but on how well made they are. Unless you are wearing 'designer' labels, it's hard to tell where a pair of jeans comes from or how well made they are! I used to work as a machinist and believe me the sweatshirts we made whether the budget 'no-label' or the expensive 'labelled' Golf or football designed ones were made in the same way, to the same standards and of the same quality material. It's not cost that makes you look good either, it's wearing clothes that fit well, suit your size and colouring and that you feel 'good' in. Because of my size I often buy 'girls' clothes or 'boys' jeans. Not because they are cheaper but because they fit better and therefore look better. I would bet money on the fact that your work collegue wouldn't know the difference. Wear the clothes you like and tell her you prefer to spend the 'extra' money on things you want or need more! [Annmac]
good quality clothes do last longer and fit better there fore saving money but you can buy a expensive Suit and just a plain white cotton shirt from a department store to mix and match the prices. mgraham126 [mgraham126]
The clothes do no make the person, the person makes the person. I wear what ever clothes strike my fancy, some people think I dress always in expensive clothes. Usually in nice brand name clothes, but second hand clothes are rarely expensive. So I never buy expensive clothes, even if it looks that way. I do buy, comfortable clothes that I think would look nice on me. [CJscott]
No, I really don't buy expensive clothes. You can choose a clothes that is good to look at even it's not branded, as long as it fits you. Just be a smart dresser. Dress properly according to the occassion. Well, casual dress is good for ordinary days and you can look good if you choose a good color combination. Let's be practical, spend wisely. [mother_earth]
Cloths are something which can change your overall personality, But then they need not be expensive. You should check the quality of the fabric so that it looks good even after frequent washes. If you are working in an office and have to deal with clients then its necessary that you be in an official look and the fabric material of your dress is good. Its not true that only expensive branded clothes give you the extra glitz". To Be very true its your personality which gives you an edge over others. And I agree 100% with you when you say you can buy necessary things with the money you save buying inexpensive cloths. Cloths are a basic necessity so are other things too.You should spend for good food and living rather then mere clothing. And as far as getting a spouse is concerned I think go for the guy who looks beyond what you are wearing. Flaunting expensive designer cloths doesnot mean you are a genuine human being.Choose the person who can see the very expensive heart that you possess embedded in your chest. Dont feel down, be proud to flaunt your choice afterall its you who should be comfortable in, not others. [love2talk]
i don't buy clothes for it's price or name. i buy one by looking at its design, fit and color. what's the point of spending too much for one item if you can only wear it once in a while -- not unless you're going to three times a week. hahaha.. i will only buy an expensive one if i really really like it or i'm obliged to get one. [thaMARKER]
I dont buy expensive clothes. its too expensive and its just wasting money. there are more important things than the clothes. i prefer to buy the cheaper one. as long as you know how to carry or handle your self they did not notice it anymore wither its expensive or cheap or may it came to a second hand store. [cupcyke]
me,i dont but expensive clothes what matters to me is that i can provide my family what they need.they are the most important.as we see today there are clothes that are not expensive but elegant.why buy expensive if u don't look like it. [dodongrex]
It is way of expressing luxury towards society. By wearing expensive dress people want to show they are modern people. [neerajpandey_13]
Great what a friend . She has money so she is spending . You have heard right when some people have lots of money they really dont how to spend. But why should you do what she is doing . See the way you can manage only go that way . It doesnt mean that what all clothes one has all should be of high price. [starash007]
Usually it's got a classic look in which you can wear it for years. Or that quality's really great that you won't need to throw it out after a few months. You're really wearing the brand. [alyciassecret]
Hi there sweetyethot! I am a practical person. Being practical does not mean that I buy whatever is cheap. If I have to spend on clothes, I would spend on something that is worth my money. My clothes need not be those that are expensively branded. It just have to be of good quality. Expensive clothes do not make a person. Wearing them won't necessarily make one look better. [dolce_vita78]
