Would You Rather Wear A Uniform Or Business Casual

Working in a company has its own rules and policies. One of which is dress code. Like where I work, we are ask to wear business casual every weekdays and dress down on weekends. However, sometimes I find myself having a hard time coping up with their idea of wearing business casual especially during weekdays due to lack of time washing my trousers and slacks. That is why I prefer having a uniform which a company should provide in order to save my collection of clothing line for wearing out. How about you? Do you prefer wearing a uniform going to work or just using your own streamline of clothing that you purchased from you hard earned money?

Hi mchavez11. Wearing office uniforms would be more economical. However, I personally prefer to wear business casuals than office uniforms. This way, I could choose business clothes based on its style and comfort. [soledadclickz]
Well I agree with you if the company is nice and proper like Google office perhaps. Thanks for posting. [mchavez11]

I was never fond of wearing uniform or even my ID. So I'd say I rather go with the business casual. From where I work though, simply casual is ok. No need to wear slacks and stuff. We can wear anything decent. After all, it is the quality of work that is important not the quality for clothes one will wear. Actually, I read in one book, dress code is one of the unneccessary rules that can be dropped in a company policy. It does not have any direct impact on quality of work unless of course if you are required to face clients often. [bryandairogarcia]

Hi,mch,I am an independent and i have consultancy on biodiesel..when ever farmer wanted my services, then only i will go out side, may be 7-10 days at a stretch, otherwise,i will be at home only.During that job days,i wear dark color dresses, because,in field level, dresses may become spoil too early. http://www.newjatrophaworld.com Have a nice time. Where I work, we have to wear uniforms. I feel lucky though because it is a doctor's office and our "uniforms" are scrubs every day. It almost feels like I get to wear pajamas to work. They are very comfortable and they are provided to us for free. We get a new weeks worth of scrubs each year. I love my job and love what I have to wear. The only downfall is that I enjoy wearing scrubs so much Monday through Friday, it's hard to put jeans on on the weekends! [cjfoust]

I never had to wear uniform and I'm glad that my workplace is not too strict with the business casual code. In ordinary, non-meeting days, we typically just wear jeans. For me, polo shirts or dress shirt (tie is optional) and for women, just some nice blouse or top. Then I get to wear flip flops - though I leave my heels in my office. The only time we wear business clothes is for meeting with clients and what-not. You have to look professional when you meet with clients. I like my workplace - not too strict when it comes to dress code. [khayshenz]

of course i like most to ware formal clothes, maybe people thought that waring a decent clothes do not represent who/what is really their personality ,however maybe due to have different perception of every body, maybe one of the best thing is that uniform or business casual represent that you have able to wear that clothes because you are qualified enough to have and show to others not in negative perspective but in a Positive way!! [rhocky999]

It depends. If the uniform looks good then I am going to wear it but if not then I will prefer wearing business casual rather than the uniform [miiszheiress]

Business Casual works for me. It's not as rigid as a uniform and allows for creativity, without being unprofessional. [danishcanadian]

We are the opposite. I prefer having no dress code and not wearing a uniform. I guess it is because uniforms are so severe for me. One cannot also express his/her individualism with uniforms. Another slight reason is that I love shopping. I always buy tons of clothes. It is only right that I get to wear the clothes I buy outside my house, like going to work and to malls. I just buy six slacks for work so that I won't have to wash my slacks every single day. [zzyw87]

for me, i would like to wear uniform...and then business casual on weekends... because i don't have extra budget for those clothes which i have to change every now & then. i feel shy if i wear my clothes repeatedly. if you are in uniform you dont have to worry about it anymore.. your only worries is for you to wash it clean on weekends so you can wear your uniforms on weekdays. Business Casual is always best [hotchocolatee]

Well, I work for the government, so it is very formal. Yet, we do not have uniforms so we are free to choose whatever we want to wear as long as it is approriate. I personally prefer to wear my own clothes. Yes, I know it means I have to buy clothes, but I do not mind. For me it's still better than wearing the same uniform over and over, it's boring. Plus, no uniform means I can experiment with the style. [alwayzzcitra]

Sometimes i prefer wearing uniform coz it is convenient for us...its cheaper....but i prefer have a wash day so i can wear casual wears ^^ [rhayde29]

Hi, Mchavez! I used to work in a hotel before where uniforms were provided. So, I did not have to worry about what clothes I should wear on the following days, but when I reached at my work place, I have to go to the laundry and collected my uniform and changed it in the locker room. So, I had to come early every day to work just to collect my uniform. Sometimes, it was troublesome and I ever thought of how it was like to wear our own clothes to work. So, when I was working at a new place where I didn't have to wear uniforms, I felt good, but I began to have the 'syndrome of what to wear the next day' and I had to make sure that I have put aside some expenses on office wear every month! Then, after a couple of years, I was back in the hotel industry again. We have uniforms, but were allowed to bring them home. So, we have to wash them ourselves. Well, it's much convenience, but sometimes when we have a last minute outings, I have to think twice because I didn't feel comfortable going somewhere in uniform especially to the Karaoke lounge or something. lol [corrycrystal]

happyHaving spent the bulk of my working life in IT, you can actually turn up more or less in anything you like, apart from days when you have customer meetings or the big chief is arriving to see that everything is as it should be. I rather like wearing suits (though ties are another matter - open-necked shirts help me breathe better). I have also, as a matter of personal taste, never worn jeans for work. Uniforms do not really enter into my line of business. They do though have a place. I cannot imagine, for example, airline pilots or attendants not wearing a uniform - it is almost the company logo that they are wearing, and the better it looks, the better the impression that is leftrolleyes. Hi MChavez, Right now we are our dress code in the office is semi formal - slacks and blouse, close shoes from Monday to Thursday and during Fridays we can wear our casual dress we can even wear denim jeans and shirt. I think it will be more economical and practical to wear office uniform. We will not be having any problem what to wear on a daily basis. You are forced to buy several sets for an alternate use. [msfrancisco9369]

Uniform for me since I'm not not really a dress wearer. It would be less one worry for me everyday what to wear. My wardrobe is very limited to jeans and sleeveless shirts which is suited in a dry and humid climate. [llyyaa]

I know the feeling I don't like business-casual or business dress.I feel if you are good at the job you are doing why not wear what you want I also find it nuch more relaxing at work when you are comfortable I wish I knew who made this stupid rule for certain places of employment when all you are doing is talking on the phone hello no one can see you o.k.?I prefer wearing jeans and a t-shirt!!!! [jahernandezrivas]

Clothes,Ithink as long as you can wear comfortably can,and there is no need to pursue brand. [rattyzou]

Discipline is necessary in organization or in any industry, other evrybody will feel this is not company, this is shopping mall [sana5222]

I prefer to have a uniform, cos first thing in the morning the last thing I want to do is have to make decisions on what to wear! Only thing I hate is all the rules that go with it, even a uniform policy someone got paid a shed of dosh to write that balony!, no strippey sox, no strange hair do's, no makeup statements! no personality! but hey rules are made to be broken right? lol! [ducatirose]

We don't have a dress code in ours, so thats good for me as I hate wearing uniforms at work. As long as it is a decent one, then you are free to go inside the office. The only downtrend of it is that I have to buy several clothes a year because all my clothes are used almost every week. But better than wearing those semi-formal attire called uniforms.lol. [Fulltank]

I work in a health-care clinic, so we have to wear scrubs. Our company wants us to look somewhat like a team, so they actually provide us with some free scrubs a couple of times a year, which is very helpful. I love the fact that I don't have to come up with an outfit to wear every day. I much prefer a set uniform, where I don't have to think about it. The schools i went to growing up, also made us wear uniforms, and I was ok with it then as well. [uicbear]

I have had enough of uniforms during my school days and would any day sport my new outfits though casual that would break the monotony of seeing those uniforms not only on me but also on my other colleagues. [allknowing]

I will just look around .I will study the working environment and will try to find out what suits best.I all my co-workers wears uniform then it is not a big deal for me to wear uniform. If the dress code rule is not so strict the I would like to go for business casuals. [Newpal]

I don't mind the clothes I use for work as long as it looks good on me. I believe that dress code depends on the kind of office and what they do. I don't mind uniforms though sometimes it is cute [lindiebiz]

i guess a uniform would be easier because sometimes it is hard to think of something to wear when you get up in the morning! we have business casual at work and jeans on fridays which is good. [cher913]

Hi mchavez11, I think I agree with you. It is better to have a uniform because we can always wear the same clothes without washing for two consecutive days without anybody noticing or giving a bad comment. If we are not wearing uniforms, we have to purchase a lot of clothes because we don't want to wear the same outfit for two days in a row. And moreover we don't even want to wear the same outfit in the same week because many people have bad mouths, they will gossip about us from what we wear and all. If we use uniforms, it is enough if we only have 5 or 6 pairs the most. Most of us will only have 3. We can wash the same uniform yesterday, and wear it again tomorrow without any judgment from anybody because everyone else is wearing the same thing. Wearing uniforms also makes us become equal in standard so there is no competition. No competition in the means of dressing up and showing what we have in our clothes collection. This reduces the feelings of jealousy, sabotaj among workers because of envy and all the dirty feelings coming up from rivalry. [ladysurvivor]

I would rather wear casual clothes. Now I am facing such problems. I am compelled to wear business suit at work. If I don't, I will be fined each day. The problem is that the company hasn't offered me a uniform at all but compells me to buy one suit myself for the time being. Yes, I am wearing a white shirt, black pants and black suit, dark brown high heeled shoes. still, the company demands me to buy the ordered suit from the company. I have to pay 200.00 yuan for it, that's 30USD. SO now, my own favorite clothes are laid off ! [magic9]

I wear a uniform where I work at. It's actually nice to have company provided uniforms versus my clothes and having to figure out what to wear everyday. [JenInTN]

Well, i prefer a Business casual.Prefers , it is because of the different industry i work.I work in IT industry, where really few organisations have uniforms. And i for one, never liked the idea of wearing uniform after 18 years of unifrom clad academics.I am very much happy with business casuals and that has also been helpful in my travels straight from office to other places. Thanks! [UltimateAsoka]

I prefer business casual. I like to be able to express my personality in the clothes I wear. [Picquarian]
